The Me 262 A-1a Jabo is a modification of the original A-1a designed to carry heavier ordinance, but the original did have armament available in fact, and that came in the form of R4M rockets. These were airburst rockets designed to destroy other aircraft, mainly bombers, and while they have a lot less power than other rockets (642 grams per R4M vs 2kgs per M8 rocket), the sheer number of them would make it viable to use, with either 24 or 48 total. Aside from the difference in armament, all the other things about this plane would be near identical to the Jabo we have in game. Due to this being more of a sidegrade to the Jabo, I think it would make a fine event vehicle for BR5. (the rockets being discussed are literally in the loading screen from the update that brought the jets, it was an oversight by whoever made it, but it’s there)
It’ll be pretty good for an infantry opponent, but the problem is that it can’t destroy the tank with this because the penetration is only 10mm.
And because of the balance, I don’t think they’ll give it at the same loadout as the 500kg bomb.
Your replies to suggestions always tie the KT and pershing in for no reason, and besides, they aren’t too different in power level where it’s a major issue anyways. I don’t see what that has to do with the suggestion I made anyways, as this is a plane, and not a tank.
Yeah, it’s kinda like a sidegrade that’s better at dealing with infantry but not good at hunting tanks. The A-1a actually didn’t have bomb racks on it, so it can’t take a 500kg bomb even if you wanted it to, but it’d still be pretty interesting IMO.
possibly, I’ve never really been able to use the 262’s bomb very well but that’s probably just me not using it properly. I think all the extra rockets would make the anti infantry much better even with the four 30mm cannons and still worth adding in some way.
you are right, superpershing has superior armour and cannon but worse reload than Tiger II H.
if you want a tank thats exactly like the Tiger II than go play the Tiger II, US got nothing to complain about in terms of tanks anymore.
As has been correctly stated, the big problem with these missiles is that they’re useless against tanks due to their low penetration.
The missiles were only used as an anti-aircraft “wall” against bombers.
And against infantry, perhaps the presence of 48 R4Ms with 520 grams of explosive would be an interesting option.
Or I think it would be better to have R4M x 24 and 250kg bomb x 1.
But if it comes out like this, I think the Attacker plane will be more right, not the Fighter.
and if it’s added like this, it should be added to other Factions as well.
Wasn’t it possible?
I think I’ve seen combinations that sometimes on Enlisted don’t work in War Thunder.
Oh, of course, I’m talking about a plane that has all the weapons in it.
like A-1a/Jabo (250kg, 500kg, R4M)
That is correct, I was talking about the 262 A-1a, not the A-1a Jabo. The Jabo could have both bombs and the R4Ms equipped, but the A-1a could only use the R4ms, so @Iron_Phelix is correct that the A-1a can’t use a combination of both bombs and rockets, as it lacks bomb racks (which is what the Jabo was, a version modified to carry bombs)
For me personally that isnt as much of a problem as that would make the plane unique sidegrade (unless it also would get stuck on the same squad as the jabo) which would allow me to chose which plane is best suited for the situation.
Some lobbies barely contain tanks so the R4M would be apropriate to use. If the lobby instead is infested with tanks the jabo would be the way.
Since it is just a sidegrade ( trading away one thing for another) it wouldnt even be that overpowered since it got a major downside.
Also with 48 rockets it might need to launch like 4 missiles at once (or staggered by a tiny bit) or my fingers would hurt by the end of the attack run.
