Hello,
After investing over €1000 into the game, I now have to express my frustration with this new matchmaking. Why isn’t it possible to choose which campaign you want to play during mudmaking? I started the game because I wanted to play Normandy and not Stalin or Moscow crap. It’s now annoying to be in Russia out of 10 games in 7.
because there weren’t many numbers to sustain current and future campaigns.
you had on one hand,
few players with the rest being bots on one team, and the other filled with actual players.
not fun for any of the team involved.
on the other, you had veterans of the campaign facing new players ( AKA, new players with m5 stuarts vs players with panthers or tigers. ) which wasn’t fun either.
so that’s why the matchmaker of the BR was made in place.
to mitigate players equipment discrepancies and make lobbies more active of players.
which so far, it successfully made what it was supposed to.
granted, the br 1 2 3 and br 3 4 5 is dumb and should be changed.
but despite that, this merge positives outclass both negatives and positives of the campaign system.
I think people playing as Germans should be able to use the “preferred map” feature that was scrapped during Merge testing.
I like the idea in general for all of the factions, but I’d implement it differently than a “preferred map” system for the non-Germans. Germans are still spread out across a lot of different fronts.
Western Allies can lock in Normandy and Ardennes by throwing in a single BR4 or BR5 weapon.
For the non-Germans, I’d like to see us able to create a “Do not play” maps list. I don’t ever skip rounds, but it is really annoying to get thrown into a Steel Mill or a Power Plant map and have two or three people bail as soon as they see the map. I’d rather they be able to say “I won’t play this so don’t try and make me.”
They ruin balance and make the worst maps even worse.
Normandy seemed fine. I joined the game at end of July last year and I had no problem having fun right away. My biggest gripe was that I thought this was a WW2 game and they gave my GIs WW1 Springfields in Normandy. It seemed idiotic. But I saw that the progression path to the M1 Carbine was fairly short so I leaned into my sniper squad and my greaser. I don’t know what the other campaigns were like because I never played them.
It was still fun. They had better stuff. I had to use better tactics. It took a bit to learn the maps, but not very long. Again, I progressed my way as a sniper where the bolt action of the rifle wasn’t such a disadvantage.
When the merge hit, I hadn’t unlocked any of the BARs and I hadn’t unlocked the Enfield sniper rifle. Everything was frustrating when all the Germans I ever faced had end of war assault rifles. It was ridiculous.
Adding those two to my squads made a world of difference and it’s balanced out a heck of a lot.
I liked the campaign system. I will like this better if they continue to fine tune it.
It’s not enough to separate the queues by battle rank. If an Allied squad gets assigned 7 BR3s and 3 BR5s and the German squad gets assigned 10 BR5s with StGs, that’s even more imbalanced than the balancing problems they say they were trying to solve in the first place
doesn’t take that long to find complains on the forum about people having inadequate tools to compete against veterans.
and… unironically, other campaigns had it much worse.
Tunisia and Moscow.
where tunisia has always been an allied fest, up until the last phase because of the italians paratrooper event squad.
you don’t make the majority of players hun.
your own experience is not the correlation of the whole playerbase ( nor most of them would agree )
personally, as said before, neutral if the merge was implemented or canceled.
it made no difference to me. as for the game, the merge was needed.
now, since the dust has been settled, i come to like it as i can now use weapons that i couldn’t, or create my very own historical loadouts with it.
indeed.
the merge has enlarged and enriched the gameplay given the vaste ammount of choices available for everyone.
lots of new content to try too.
most certainly ( and one hopes so haha ) this system gets improved.
not quite.
i think the current balancement is for the most part, okey.
what isn’t… are the br 3 and 4.
there is kinda no reason to run them unless you are forced to grind them.
because you will either stick with br 1 / 2 or br 5.
otherwise you’ll just be making your overhal experience miserable ( unless you’re into that like i do with volkssturm loadouts etc. but it’s not advisable )
I don’t think that’s right. Not all of the stuff gets better just because it is a higher tier. I actually enjoy sitting most of the time at BR3 because I can match either up or down.
The only BR5 stuff I have are the 506th paratroopers that FINALLY went on sale in the Microsoft Store over the First of the Year and a T20 that I purchased with a gold order. All of the BARs are BR3. The Garand is BR3. The Enfield is BR3. The Tommy is BR3 until you decide to grind 4 of them just to get one with a 50 rd drum (whooptie-frickin-do)
The 506th cannot be modified, so if I want to play with my premium squad, I have to play at BR5 even though all of the rest of my stuff is BR3.
So it’s in a little bit of an untenable position right now and I’m not sure there is a solution given the constraints that have been imposed. It isn’t fair to me to not be able to use a squad I paid for; it isn’t really fair to my teammates for me to count as a “BR5” unless I’m actually using my paratroopers in battle; people absolutely would game the system if they were to do something like average all the weapons.
The only thing I can think of that should be done about that is let me give my paratroopers weaker weapons so that I can use them in a lower tier match.
I think the solution is to make those campaign specific choices a part of gameplay. That could be a daily boost or a battle pass boost where you get to play X rounds of maps of your choosing. You earn that perk by playing by the normal matchmaking rules.
I disagree. For example, I personally love playing as the Soviets, but absolutely HATE getting put on Berlin maps. I should have the option of going to Moscow and Stalingrad without being forced into Berlin.
If it were a case of “you MUST play x games of Berlin before being allowed to play Moscow or Stalingrad”, I definitely wouldn’t be playing as the Soviets anymore.
I simply don’t have the time or patience to grind that much on something i dislike just in order to access something that I do.
That’s why I think they should allow everyone to pick at least one map per faction that they want to avoid. It does absolutely no good for matchmaking if people get maps they refuse to play then immediately disconnect.
Alternatively, they’ve got to introduce some good reason to grind through rounds that you absolutely do not want to play.
I amt totally behind being able to change premium squad weapons. I want to use the cool looking vickers event squad but i dont want my paratroopers to carry heavy machine guns when they should be carrying light sten smgs
I can’t say this solution would work for all premium squads, but the 506th has a pretty easy solution. Just make sure that the 100 rd Tommy can only be used by paratroopers. That way, you can’t just distribute them to your assault squads the way you can with the freebie Soviet paratroopers and their Federovs.
But I want to be able to give my paratroopers carbines and fight at low tier. Their load outs in the crate are kinda pathetic anyway, especially for a premium squad. They get the M1903A1 as the sniper rifle when the A4, the Enfield, and the Sniper Garand are out there to have been used. They get BR3 machine guns, etc, etc. So the only thing that makes them a BR5 is that damn Tommy gun and I hate Tommy guns. I don’t want to look down the sights of a Tommy. I’d rather they have Lanchesters or M1 Carbines when I want to drop down to fight in low tier.
That’s right, it’s no longer fun since this supposed improvement! The system should be completely reworked like many other errors that have crept in since the last updates. What use is this matchmaking if it only works 3 times out of 10 games? The map rotation is also bad! I’ve been playing since December 10, 2021. So what now?
