Match making fix

For the next update, match making needs to be greatly improved. Again , I start a new BP where my team is defending 80% of the time…probability alone dictates that shouldn’t happen. When in matches, I notice my team has 2-3 other real players…yet the opposing team usually has 6-10 real players, shouldn’ it be close to equal according to the last matchmaking fix? To make it worse the teammates are usually TERRIBLE as you finish with 4 times the kills and caps and are usually uptiered.
Since ranking up is determined by points, and the matchmaking is BRUTAL, maybe more emphasis should be put on battle hero awards…if you are carrying the team and get 6 awards, you shouldn’t only get 1 point…just like the sole sniper award since they are at the back of the map and finish with 13 total kills.
Either matchmaking needs overhauled, or more points need to be rewarded…and you should NEVER be thrown into a match already in progress without being rewarded with multipliers and points, after all if you quit you are penalized.
If the matches aren’t fun and feel like work when you have to carry a team continually, players get annoyed and play less…it should be fun without that stress…even losing armies still promote and acknowledge their top soldiers.
Do you agree that devs need to do something for bettering match making?

  • They should fix matchmaking with player count/quality.
  • They should fix the award, reward and point allocation.
  • They should fix both.

They should fix matchmaking with player count/quality.
no one wants sbmm
wow man groups think about the wait times
but balancing bot and real players on both teams would help stop stomps

Doesn’t need to be SBMM, it can just adjust based on the Military Rank System already in game.

thats literally what ive said before when I first started playing and people would say it wouldnt work because groups can inflate their noob friends to max rank lol.

I think the new elo thing on enlisted roll call can work great for matches but I honestly like when the MM work where I can chill in the back of the point ( not the back of the map lol) and defend or push flanks while my team holds the other sides or point itself.

Yesterday the matches were horrible with back to back losses so I just turned join any army back on and had a 50/50 in W/L matches today and hopefully ill get back to chill games again

Surprisingly same experience but since I am attempting to be more calmer I actually feel like yesterday was a little less chaotic for normal br5

USSR br5 actually did decent (at least when I’m on their teams for some reason which is nice)

ive been playing br3 lol checking the roll call stuff its a mix of br 2 and br3 where if a bot takes over a player that left they get br3 gear

I really wish devs would figure out how PS5 players could post pics here…then they could see what I am talking about. Last 4 matches on defense, 3 players vs 6, I had 190 plus kills and almost all Engineering points…next highest in all games, 54. It shouldn’t be continually like this…especially sharing BH points. 1.5 hours with a net zero point change.

The military rank system is genuinely worthless — its entire existence is just to fake a competitive ladder for a shooter that doesn’t have one, plus a handful of laughable rewards. The real matchmaking problem in this game is the total lack of transparency.

Ranks are meaningless because they’re purely a function of playtime. Grind enough matches and you will climb, regardless of skill. A player with 500 games and terrible aim sits at the same rank as a veteran with 500 games and perfect positioning, and the game treats them the same way. that’s an attendance award.

What would actually make sense is matching based on the hidden elo that sites like rollcall already pull from the server — that number reflects actual performance, not time served. The data is right there. The devs just refuse to surface it or use it for matchmaking. If we’re going to have balanced matches, let’s use the number that actually measures skill, not the cosmetic badge you get for showing up.

I keep saying this, but here it is again: every player just wants to have fun, or at least get matched into games that are actually within their skill range. That’s not a big ask — it’s the bare minimum for an FPS. But Darkflow clearly doesn’t see it that way. These guys want every single player to be miserable, and they’ve been at it since the campaign merge — that’s when the matchmaking genuinely went downhill.
It’s by design. Frustrated players who are constantly uptiered, outnumbered by real players on the other team, and forced to carry garbage teams are exactly the players most likely to crack and buy one of their ridiculous bundles. “Stuck getting farmed? Buy this premium squad and it’ll be fine.” The whole system is engineered to make the free experience just painful enough to push you toward the store.
matchmaking needs to be fixed? — they know it’s broken. But they built it that way. Asking them to fix it is like asking a casino to make sure you win.

Gotta push back on this one. If matchmaking actually went by military rank, the people who’d suffer most are exactly the casual players — the ones who aren’t great but genuinely enjoy the game and put in a ton of hours. They’d rack up rank purely from playtime, not skill, and then slowly get funneled into lobbies full of pros. It’s the boiling frog problem: you keep playing, your rank keeps climbing, and one day you look up and you’re a slightly-above-average player being fed to the grinder against pro who live in this game.
That’s a soul-crushing experience for someone who only ever wanted to have fun. It’s not a matchmaking improvement — it’s a machine designed to eventually chew up and spit out the casual playerbase.

And honestly, all you have to do is think about it for five seconds to realize the devs would never adopt this. A matchmaking system that actively punishes players for playing a lot? That’s the opposite of everything a live-service game wants. It makes no sense from a business standpoint, no sense from a fairness standpoint, and no sense from a basic logic standpoint. It’s a mechanical, falls apart the moment you apply it to actual humans.

Dude I am a casual player and haven’t gotten to marshal even once.
You lose rank from losing matches. That effectively puts the ranks into brackets exactly like other games have. I’m fine being a Major tier player that occasionally gets Lieutenant Colonel. Player ranks will eventually settle as their win rate gets properly dialed in to around 50%
The generally skilled players will probably sit around Brigadier General while all the sweats and tryhards push Marshal. Which means they won’t be in my games tanking my matches. There’s a reason other games use leagues.

@MajorMcDonalds could these be forwarded for consieration?

that is mostly crossplay off situation… its playerbase is 20-25% of crossplay on. otherwise crossplay on gets mostly 10v10.

with what players? you may look at roll call and see 900k players, but that is over 2 months period, while daily unique is ~100k and max concurrent is 6-8k on crossplay on divided by 4 factions, 5 BR, 3 servers and average 20 minute match.
