Making medics usefull

when attacker destroys defensive ballons, they can gain more resurce points, somethimes exceeds 1000.
Suggestion: medics should be able to remove cropses and gain x points for players and increase resource point for the team. Not revive them. Reviving will create uneccesary complications like what revived bot will do or will recently killed player return to game after one of their bot was revived.

I don’t see how this is useful. Isn’t better to just push objective, lol?

medic remind me of the Resistance revolver, you fired then could detonate the bullets, interesting but like the medic it seems two steps too many

Interesting idea, definitely better than reviving.

Providing boxes for morphine and the like
I think this would be more attractive than a med kit

In my opinion, the only way to make a medic useful is to re-balance them in favour of what their actual role is.

So, rather than making them a squad/team of medics, change this squad into some other historically relevant squad - my suggestion would be to make it a basic rifleman squad, that focuses the upgrade path on the medic.

Now the given the Squad AI focus on the game, there is an opportunity for Gaijin to disarm the medic completely and turn its function into a AI only one - ie this is one of the few characters that they player should not technically need to occupy. They can still do so if they wish but effectively this addition to any squad should be effectively an automaton.

Now in terms of implementation the medic role is the same as in any other squad based RTS. They run around and auto heal any soldier in their squad that is injured - the amount can be tweaked to balance the game if the current amount of healing is too much, this abstraction allows the medic to do its job properly, rather than just be an additional assaulter in a different skin.
The player may chose to jump into the medic and firstly drop the med box, or as per the current implementation heal troops of other players, which the auto medic will not do.

The reason they will not auto heal other squads is because every squad can now be given a medic slot and players can elect to have a medic attached to their squad in lieu of another role. So if ppl want to play an active healer they can, but in essence the decision to ā€œbolsterā€ the endurance of squads resides with the player.
How effective on the game that is can be playtested, but in most RTS these effects are generally ineffective for actual combat, but if you win then the ability of the medic to heal up your troops between engagements to some extent will tend to influence the players playstyles into a more conservative one since if you win the engagement you can step back/aside - reorg and push forward with renewed vigor (literally)

In this way you now have a role that is quasi realistic, and actually brings and effect into the game.

soldiers are too disposable for a medic to matter, heck how many people risk repairing a tank

maybe if you could set up a tent or throw med packs like in battlefield, otherwise you need to slow down the game by increasing time to kill

Insonzo is a slow game not that i have much experience but not much healing going on

That’s because their role should not be too combat centric, they will not outheal incoming damage, you basically have to accept that they will be useful in mid to long game engagements against harassing fire that does not one shot you. Equally if you survive the combat on low HP, you may have a perk, but also the medic will heal you up, if they can get to you in time.
Now you may have to sit still in one place for a short while in order for the AI to react and come and heal you, but if you can’t do that for whatever reason, then its not the medics fault, its your play style that is incompatible with a potential abstraction of how healing could be implemented in the game. As it stands now, an active player is doing or trying to do the same thing, but the only time they can actually heal you is when you stand still, which most often is when you’re actually firing - hence the cognitive dissonance around healing implementation in the game.

It just doesn’t work atm, and if you’re looking at having medics in game at all then what I’m suggesting is a reasonably workable implementation.

medics should be able to jab people with morphine to give them damage resistance or ā€œoverhealā€ or something

We need to increase their healing of nearby friendlies, because I don’t see them do that despite them saying they do.
Beyond that we need bots to grab from medkit boxes they are nearby.
Giving the medics a ā€˜defend and bolster’ order would be great. Like they defend that area but drop down all their boxes as well and heal anybody nearby when they get the chance.
And maybe an overheal and speed boost would be appreciated like with Doc from R6S, because that’s a real fast TTK game and he works alright there. In Enlisted it could fully heal, maybe then some, and fill stamina, and give the flask effect for a short time.
Their current abilities are fine we just need to, y’know, actually use them.

i like this suggestion.

one that still somewhat remains realistic while not adding some sort of arcady mechanic behind it.

i’d figure adding the ability to refill syringes too, and changing the squads composition would fix medics and make them more useful than ever.

I still think revives are go to solution. Most games that have ā€œbattle-likeā€ setting have it and I think it would fit in enlisted too.

Meatwagon

Lame joke aside.

All I would do is make medics and assaulters interchangeable in squads. Or at least one per squad. Someone else suggested it and it’s a good idea. A medic in a squad is useful. Only medics, or not at all, less.

Right now not many squads have the medic specialist slot available…

I agree I really like your concept on the medic being AI, I believe that you should be able to play as the medic as well how we currently have it, but when you are not playing as the medic the AI should automatically start to use the bandages and Shots for team members in the squad.
