While I know that people have expressed their desire for each BR to be locked into +/-0 matchmaking, removing uptiers/downtiers, the devs have expressed that current game population cannot support such system
This brings us to a solution: locking BR1 first as priority. By locking BR1 we can create a healthier space for new players to learn and play the game before they are ready to progress with the TT. This space is extremely needed to not discourage new players from playing the game, as the disparity between BR1 and BR2 is extremely large. On top of that a lot of veteran players play BR2-3 which makes it extremely unfair for someone who just downloaded the game to face them
This way we could boost player retention up - increasing the game population - which in turn will allows us to lock more BRs into +/-0 matchmaking in the future and Gaijin to simply have more players that might spend money on the game
Seal clubbers would benefit from this exception way more than noobies. As they would not be facing people with bett equipment, they would be top predators.
So no exceptions. Either ±0 MM from all BRs or just stay with ±1 MM. All exception are toxic by nature.
Yeah, that’s not gonna make the new player experience better, but I also don’t think ±0 MM makes sense either. If BR 1 is stuck with only BR1, vets and whales that want to seal club just have to pick the best BR1 gear, max upgrade all of it, set the lineup and get to work.
That’s more reasonable though I really doubt that more than half of the seal clubbers would decide to downtier all the way to BR1
Majority of maxed out players play BR2-3 because theres gear that suits them
And now currently, if we assumed there to be 50/50 chance of a downtier/uptier for BR2 and BR1/2 having similar populations, moving a quarter of the seal clubbers from BR2 to BR1 makes the situation about identical to what we have now with the exception that the seal clubbers don’t wield BR2 equipment that’s significantly better than BR1 one (on top of not facing normal opponents with the BR2 equipment)
I am expecting some less enthusiasm regarding this suggestion but I honestly expected people worrying about BR2 only being able to be uptiered and implication on the MM rather than seal clubbers moving a tier lower, because those would need to move en masse to make actually noticable difference
I’m not sure that’s a big a difference as it’s being presented to be.
Sure, BR2 equipment is better. Faster rates of fire on some bolt actions, early game semi-autos, better SMGs, better tanks, planes that aren’t garbage, and APCs make a difference. But there’s still plenty of variablity in a single BR. A rifle squad with 9x perfect rolled level five soldiers with upgraded kit is gonna be orders of magnitude more effective than a new four man, or even one without maxed perks and equipment.
I’d actually love this. Since having to bother with SMG spam in BR II or III, when up tiered, is slightly annoying, when I prefer bolts. Sure I’d lose my best like Winch, Mann, or Lee, but hey, I’ve been looking for alternatives should the potential lock lead to BR II being dead.
Tbh, you are right, less people would probably sealclub or it would be less noticeable due to the BR I SMGs being less effective, but like those same BR II SMGs spams are the only thing holding better players back. Give that up and some of us will have a field day.
And no, going to BR III - V just because I’d be otherwise sealclubbing with a bolt isn’t something I am really considering.
I don’t deny that the seal clubbers will not be present in BR1
My main takeaways are:
Seal clubbers would need to downtier specifically to BR1, which vast majority of vets downtiering are playing BR2/3 for the equipment
Even after downtiering to BR1 they’d have less powerful equipment which would make the seal club but less noticable
You get the added benefit that new players don’t have to face BR2 equipment at all, which is significantly more powerful
I don’t believe this change can mess up the situation more than it is now. But it’s all a guesstimate based off players I’ve seen, talked to, seen made posts etc. I throw this proposition so devs with proper analitical data can determine how correct it is (though I still am doubtful whether they can make a right decision based on it)
Now, sure, but the discussion is on if BR2 wasn’t there for BR1 to fight.
Most factions best bolt gun at BR1 has a RoF of 54 stock, 62 upgraded, which ends up at 69 with the bolt action perk. Japan’s type 38 ends up at 80.
Br1 SMGs are in a similar boat, the difference is noticable between a stock gun and a max upgraded one, and SMG spam is smg spam. Even F2P players that have progressed far enough can spam 3x assault squads, or two and guerillas to be really annoying.
While there is differencies between bolties, even noticeable my point more or less is that the BA isnt exactly the most efficient & easy way to sealclub people.
Theres rather massive differency having to aim each and every one of your shots and do it at maximum of 80 rof than moving down people running around with bolties with smg that has rof of 800.
From my personal experiences ive got a BR2 GE lineup and BR5 JP on these BR’s ive seen much more TNMT on lower BR’s as GE at BR2 & 3 than ive seen TMNT at BR5 against JP.
My sophisticated guess would be that BR 2-3 is sort of a sweetspot for TMNT faction, having quite significantly better equipment at said BR and especiatly if downtiered.
Which is what you are exactly looking for if your intention is to sealclub.
But as said, my personal experience not exactly a scientifically proven research.
Agree. But id say the differency between BR1 & BR2 smg’s is night and day.
Aka you aint getting even near same level advantage as you get with BR2-3 smg’s while being downtiered.
Also regarding the BR1 smgs id say the same as with BA’s partially apply, they aint exactly very effective way to mow down groups.
And for all I care, if our intention is to save the BR1 they can apply what ever limitations to there.
Same rotation requirement as with vehicles for assaulters / LMG’s for all I care.
