This is a rare problem for the average player who rarely uses shotguns, but it still exists.
Shotguns can’t be refilled from enemy ammo boxes despite all of them share the same ammo pool (recently I picked up Luftwaffe Drilling as a US soldier and it used same ammo as my pistol slot sawn-off), please make them cross-faction like some captured weapons (iirc captured PPS and MP-40 can be refilled from both sides’ ammo boxes).

And enemy medboxes too. In real life a lot of medical supplies were liberated from enemy supplies.
You are wrong about the PPS and MP-40 machine guns, the MP-40 was chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge while the PPS series and every (1930 on) Soviet home-made SMG were chambered for the 7,62x25 Tokarev cartridge. However, most British and German SMGs should be able to capture ammo from enemy boxes, since both were chambered for the 9x19mm cartridge. (Now that I’ve readed well you mentioned the captured versions, anyway Stens/Lanchesters should be able to capture ammo from enemy boxes)
They can be refilled from both German and Soviet boxes tho? I meant the premium guerilla versions, of course.
Don’t even get started on this, Viper SMG uses MP40 magazines and it should be able to refill from german boxes, but cartridge being the reason for that? would lead to much more compatibility, like Fedorov AR from JP boxes, Type 88 Rifle from German, SLR1944 from German, and so on. Shotguns and captured weapons will be enough.

Why shouldn’t them then? Irl troops used captured ammo, in fact the Sten SMG was designed to use the 9x19mm cartridge so partisans and troopers could use captured enemy ammo on their weapons.
Because it will take much longer to implement than just shotguns, which is what my suggestion is about. I am not against it.
So they have to implement it all at once? Mate, devs are not that fast, they take often 2 - 3 majors to implement even the simplest idea, they can do that within different updates
