Itās just a matter of balancing the game with timeline / BR style matchmaking.
You have T80Us rolling around in Tunisia now as Russians fighting off USA troops.
They are already testing out the type of matchmaking that will save this game 
Iām laughing my ass off with this event coming out literally a day after all this trolling about tanks.

There is nothing in that event that suggests mixed timelines and BR matchmakingā¦
You just got total mix of assetes from different Darkflow game, Cuisine Royale, mixed even more with tanks form WT (that game also has magic and zombies, maybe you are interested in that too?)
And all of that placed in the least characteristic maps from all we have in Enlisted. Really, without British and Italian forces and the whole historical atmosphere it can be just a random desert, not Tunesia. The same building and scenery assets are successfully serving as Mexico in Cuisine Royale, so my point is proven here.
So most likely devs are just checking if there is interest in modern campaigns for the future. But sure, maybe if it comes you will be able to create your fantasy playground in Custom Battles.

Suggestions like yours were brought in this forum many times before and the same jokes were made.
You are really over exaggerating the importance of what you posted. From what we learned sÅoÅce CAT nad CBT it is very likely that none of the devs even saw that. And it even more absurd to think that they started this event to ātroll usā.
Still, nothing there that would even slightly suggest mixed fractions, timelines and BR rating.

I donāt doubt there are many players sharing my opinion, as a matter of fact I would say the majority of the average players. The ones that donāt really browse forums and just enjoy the game for what it is.
I just find the timing of this implementation hilarious. Literally a day after.

wow. you very likely have no evidence, you likely have no actual reason to believe this, and yet you are this confident that the majority of players agree with you. mebbe you should ask them or let them speak for themselves, as opposed to presuming yourself to be able to speak for the majority of the playerbase with any remote level of accuracy.
i think that the majority of ppl who agree with this kind of idea are the ones fresh out of CoD, but i digress

Ask the devs to make a poll in the game and letās find out.
I am sure that the majority do not enjoy unlocking the same crap because Germany is featured in 4 different campaigns.
Or the fact that every campaign is splitting up the playerbase. They will be adding more campaigns? Great, I wonder what the que times will be when thereās 8 of them.

Took 2 years for devs finally realize the progression system is heavily flawed.
The more campaigns they add, the more obvious the issue becomes.
Moreover, I predict they will have a mode in which several factions can fight on the same side (ie, US + USSR + Brits vs Italians + Germans)
