Well then lets restrict grenade pouches to ONLY assaulters, and ONLY allows for a 2nd grenade and not a 3rd… Same concept.
Actually I have. Not just that, but I’ve played custom games with multiple players running 9 man squads with mines.
It really wasn’t that bad!!!
Artillery clears at least some of them out, I use “minesweeper” soldiers like I described earlier, flanked, used grenades to detonate ones inside the objective (impact grenades work AMAZINGLY for this purpose, as you can throw them at the ceiling and it will trip most nearby mines.)
Beyond that, they can only cover so much area with mines, since you can’t overlap them without a chain reaction.
Honestly, I find the GRENADE spam with large grenade pouches on a rifleman squad WORSE than fighting through a minefield!!!
As I said, I’ve essentially fought through that, and its not as bad as grenades. Like I said, there is only so much area that you can put them in close to an objective.
It might make it considerably more frustrating trying to get through open fields and such that have been heavily mined, since there is far more space to be used, but again, artillery can be useful for clearing at least some of them. Beyond that, make sure you are clearing a path and sticking to it.
Though in this instance, which I’ve also fought through, one of your best options is actually TRENCHING through that open area.
Open fields aren’t a big deal. But nearly every cap point has high traffic areas, Trench, windows, cover points which you can guarantee the players (or bots) will use. Very hard to sweep for mines while you are being assaulted by the defenders. That beach Invasion in Pacific for example…the first point as Attackers you have to go into the trench’s for cover. When thats filled with mines, and counter attacking defenders, no sooner than you sweep the first section of trench of mines than my mate will mine it back up again. Done it many times. It very easily resets an attack.
I don’t agree with any of your suggestions in this matter though
mines could be larger or an icon could appear from greater distance unless they’re well hidden in a grass or something.
I would like for oneself to trigger mines and maybe allies aswell. Mines are just boring as hell and shut down gameplay. And mines being able to detect friend from foes is also just plain immersion breaking for those who care about that.
I just had a match, where an enemy was mining everything around their built spawn point. It was extremely frustrationg to push into, cause enemies constantly were spawning there and you can’t take your time to shoot mines, while you have to be ready to shoot the next enemy running around the corner. And greandes don’t seem to trigger mines, so that was no solution either.
Grenades triggering mines in a wide area might be another solution.
