I created a goofy BR3 lineup: inf squad, truck squad, bike squad, tank.
Everything was ok-ish (except for poor vehicle physics we all know and love) until I was thrown into steel mill map. Vehicles are utter crap on this map, especially the bike. There is 0 space to maneuver, random garbage is everywhere, points are in huge buildings and there are only 2 roads to move on (often overwatched by tanks).
This got me thinking. Maps are clearly infantry focused but imo with addition of bikes and trucks and strong presence of tanks, it’s necessary to make maps more friendly towards ground vehicles. Of course I don’t mean “make a shooting range for tanks” but less garbage everywhere, more space / routes to maneuver etc would be really helpful.
I think the maps would be okay if vehicle psychics worked properly.
As you have mentioned.
By now, it seems as if every machine has the physics of a milk carton, as soon as it hits the slightest pebble or trench, the vehicle begins to glitch and bounce strangely.
And the worst part is that our milk cartons are powered by a Ford T engine, The slightest curve or hill, and the top speed of any vehicle turns into 10km.
If the physics were ok, the maps wouldn’t bother me at all. At least there would be a clear distinction between vehicles that have wheels, and those that have tracks.
Suddenly a vehicle that has tracks would be at a significant advantage, as it was in reality.
The only difference now is that vehicle with tracks can turn on the spot.
I"ve been asking for this since they introduced the Berlin campaign.
You recall how demented it was initially where you couldn’t walk a dog though some of the map spaces much less drive a vehicle.
They relented somewhat over the last year and they’ve de-cluttered many of the maps. There is still a bit more elevation adjustment that needs to take place. Too many maps are still very extreme in their elevations which affect vehicle movement, but not infantry movement.
I think players will realise how bad this is if they ever introduce gradient impact on infantry movement and all your soldiers slow down to a slow walk as they have to traverse some of these alpine structures the Devs have implemented in game.
