I currently play Japan, and I noticed that I play on the attacking side once per about 20 battles, which is really annoying, especially when I get tasks related to capturing points. Why does Japan never get to attack? Shouldn’t it be more less 50/50 attack and defense?
add germans to this… i am starting to play soviets cause i cant stand defending anymore…
Japan does play defense a lot. But for me I love defending personally lol
I hate defending when I am in team that’s dominating. It’s basically just 10min competition to see who is best in shooting people 10m away from their spawn. That’s why I much prefer confrontation. In that mode, you have to both attack and defend. And it’s enjoyable no matter if your team sucks or is dominating, since objectives are locked for some time.

exactly
I’ve been playing Japan the most lately and I didn’t really notice until you said something but you are right.
Normally when I’m attacking its alligator creek, attacking from the beach. If the US has a decent team it’s a very hard cap to make. If Japan can’t get on point right away then you can pretty much forget it once the US has dug in.
It’s all is intended because how else are the Soviets or allies supposed to rack up a mountain of bodies If they can’t farm the defenders
The only bad thing about confrontation is that it may be a little confusing, but other than that it’s hands down the best game mode, it fits all the play styles, very decisive, very fun, two way attrition what to ask more.
there was one game where I was actually happy I had mortar guy on my team he did very good job with little deaths. That could happen ONLY in confrontation. ONLY confrontation supports that.
i love and hate confrontation… biggest problem i have with it is that sometimes it is too short and sometimes it is too long.
Personally, I think there needs to be some major changes to offense and defense mechanics as well as options for fortifications and gear. I have noted many of them in my posts.
The thing is that gameplay right now has just boiled down into a run-and-gun mess. Where there isn’t decent fortification options and mechanics in place, so defenders’ best option USUALLY is to just play as a reckless version of offense.
Also because there is no solid fortification for defenders, attackers aren’t given anything really unique in terms of tactics or equipment (bangalore torpedos for example).
I feel this was perhaps the original intention, so devs kept it to where one side was much more likely to be defending, and the other side much more frequently attacking. So players could choose “OFFENSE/DEFENSE” more accurately.
Because of all this, players tend to flock to specific sides because those sides attack more. (Soviets and Americans).
The Germans are often only taken because of their tanks and MGs.
Japanese is always a crapshoot because Americans get superior firepower AND are attacking most of the time. Usually in games that the Japanese get absolutely rolled over.
I would like to note that the Japanese especially wouldn’t be too bad if they adjusted where the objectives were. There seems to be quite a bit of trenches, bunkers (with MG holes), and other defenses built into the maps, but they are never in positions that actually can make a difference. They are in weird in-between locations that don’t help at all.
If Defending actually played out more as an actual defense, it wouldn’t even be so bad that only 1/20 games is offense.
