Anyone who has a decent amount of piloting experience in this game knows the pain of getting a direct hit on a tank with a bomb but then having to look back and watch as said tank lives. Often with smaller bombs, getting a direct hit can be mitigated by a tank by simply moving, which kinda defeats the purpose of using a plane at all.
The simple solution is to make it so bombs impact tanks, like they should considering they’re both tangible objects. No longer shall pesky tanks escape the grasp of death because they’re capable of pressing W on a keyboard or pushing a joystick forward.
If a pilot is skilled enough to hit a tank on the forehead with a bomb, then that pilot should be rewarded with the clemency that the bomb will be sticking to that tanks forehead while the fuse ticks down.
a direct hit should be a kill on impact, imo. anything like 100lbs moving at near terminal velocity should be functionally killing the vehicle struck, before it even explodes
BTW @Myrm1don made a topic about this problem some time ago.
I posted a video about this problem.
It’s just terrible that this still happens.
I (try to) bomb tanks every day…often not succesful…now we know why
This pic is from 2 years ago.
1000lb bomb stuck in tank like it should.
I dont know if it’s because of the ‘softer’ tank or if they changed something in how the bomb react when hitting a tank.
This one is funny too.
250 kg bomb vs. IS-2 (1944)
During bomb practice I got a hitmarker but no kill so I checked it out.
Direct hit on the tank, bomb went straight through the tank and exploded next to it.
The tank only suffered a damaged barrel and track.
