Maisky Forestry (Invasion)

Maisky Forestry is a rubbish map and should be removed from rotation or at least make the Russian team be forced to play as attackers. As it stands Germans are always forced to be the attackers on Maisky Forestry.

Sorry. Which map is this? which campaign?

Eastern Front, Battle for Moscow.

Its not too hard to win as german. personaly i have lost it only once or twice. Just but engineer on every squad(like every one who even care about winning should) and build some good rally points

I disagree. The map is much too open for pub matches, and some level of coordination is required to get teammates to get on the capture zones. Right now it’s a horrible experience to be forced into a losing match because Braindead teammates refuse to stand on the capture zones because big open spaces confuse them.

All the while defenders (Russians) need only consolidate around the capture zones and click M1 on the mouse. In the interest of fairness Russian faction players should be forced to experience the same grief

I’m absolutely for switching up attacking and defending factions, which, on Moscow and Normandy at least, can be done for literally all maps except D-Day. Easy fix and adds variety. +10

You have correctly identified that hte map is not the probme - the braindead players (or bots) are - ergo no change is required on the map

And of course once your get the Pz 4E that’s pretty much game over for the Soviets on every map… :stuck_out_tongue:

Disagree - “Moscow” should have a heavy emphasis on Axis attacking. That is the nature of the war in the East in 1941 - could usefully be renamed “Barbarossa” or “Case 21” or similar which would instantly remove a few of the historical/geographical equipment anomalies is about all.

I appreciate your appreciation of historical realism (hence switching up D-Day is an obvious faux pas), but in the Moscow campaign I don’t see how you could easily distinguish an attack from a counterattack, my point being that having the Russians attack doesn’t immediately invalidate historical reality. I accept that people may disagree based on historical facts, but such a simply fix would add a lot to gameplay variety.

I didn’t say the Soviets shouldn’t attack - but IMO it should be much less common than the Axis attacking in 1941.

This map is actually one of the best in the game IMO.

It has open areas, enclosed areas and needs certain amount of teamwork.
It by far trumps Normandy maps

Bud, that’s like asking to remove the bus stop, because you don’t get to drive the bus.
Don’t worry, the brain dead players will soon get fed up with constantly losing and the will either “git gud” or stop playing alltogether.
But even if it doesn’t happen (it didn’t in H&G, for example), why should we ask the devs to cater to those players? I’d much rather lose on a map I enjoy playing, than win on a map that is corridor-like, symmetrical and has bright colours for those challenged players who only understand “Green - gud. Red - ba-a-ad”.
The devs are going to be dumbing it down anyway, cause they’ll want as many people as possible to bring in that cash, but why rush it?

Easy win, lost only 2 times, but with a engineer u can win this map.

Success on this map largely depends on how Competent the Russian team is.
I had matches as the germans where The Soviets got roflstompd in a matter of minutes (the teams were mostly snipers combined with 2-3 Planes/Tanks)
But if the Soviet team knows what the are doing one can stop the assault at the river without much trubble. I find that covering the flanks is usally enough against most german teams.

But I agree that Attacker/Defender roles should be switch up more often in moscow, it makes a lot of sense as well considering the Initial German offensive and the following Soviet counter offensive.

This map really needs wider sides when you have to cross the river on second cap point.
For now it’s too narrow

Others cap points are ok.

Not easy. But not too hard. Mayby i was lucky and got all decent german players in all matches i played. But typically im only one building rally points

Same! I’m pretty sure most Moscow invasion maps go both way except for that one. If anything Normandy is missing the variety since there’s only a single map the Germans can attack on.

The devs also have to look into spawn camping with this map. I see Soviet players trying to get them cheesy kills all the time.

Also as players stated above, the map has to get wider or some building between usual path from spawn to the cap points removed. Flanking is a must in this map, but the path you can take is so obvious, that I see defenders placing AA guns and MG nests a lot. And if they don’t have engineers, there is always some buildings for cover.

An increase in the amount of respawn tickets you get after a point cap will also be welcome. Remove the extra tickets from the first point and put it into the 2nd and 3rd points.

Also, please brighten up the interior of buildings. Especially the 2nd and 3rd cap points.

Personally, I like the map. Good mix of long-range and CQB. Would be cool if the attackers/defenders were randomized like Vysokovo though.

story of my games on this map… :sleepy:

pure luck when i was able to cross it.

The counter offensive should logically start from the other direction then. Could be interesting seeing invasion maps play out from the opposite direction.
