Maintaining Faction Research Tree Integrity

Captured Content is a very complicated debate in this game. During the war soldiers would capture enemy weapons if the opportunity arises. Everyone grabbed whatever they could from everyone. However in this game it raises the issue of faction integrity keeping every faction unique and independent. Recently I suggested giving Germany a MP 717(R) a captured PPSh-41.

While many do feel faction integrity should be maintained as much as possible, one thing is true this game doesn’t really seem to have a problem copy and pasting gear between factions…only when it’s being taken from Germany and given to the other factions! The Soviets have Panzerfausts and I could imagine eventually they’d get Panzerschrecks! The Allies have Panzerschrecks! I have seen people say to give those faction’s MG42s! I have seen people say to give them Stgs! Germany is always getting passed around yet people get mad if once in a while Germany takes from the other factions!

I too think it is good to maintain faction integrity, but I also recognize that captured weapon use was rampant during the war. Germany’s rampant use of captured PPSh-41s was so great they literally printed manuals how to operate them if you got a hold of one. But I think there is a perfect solution and compromise.

I am fine with captured content because it reflects the common habit during the war, but many people probably wouldn’t like each faction’s Research Trees filled with copies of each other. I feel Capture Content that includes firearms and hey while we’re at it vehicles because that happened too, should only ever be event prizes or premium.

The second step, is that all wrongs must be righted. The Panzerfausts must be removed from the Soviet Union Research Tree, and the Panzerschrecks must be removed the Allies Research Tree. If it’s too hard to remove them from everyone to have a clean slate, they can just remove it from the RTs and if you unlocked them beforehand you can keep what you have. There can even be future events where captured launchers are the prize because it certainly did happen in real life. But they must be removed regardless. It is for the greater good.

If balancing is a problem I have mentioned numerous times alternative AT launchers that could be added to the Allies and SU to fill the void of the removed Panzerfausts and Schrecks. Plus like I said we could even have captured weapon events. Also they can make AT weapons pickable off dead enemies.

I could also say the same thing about the Soviet Bazooka, Japanese Panzerschreck, German “sawed off PPSh-41”, and Japanese “sawed off M2 Carbine”.

100% get copy and pastes out of the tech trees (with exception to the Ke-7).

Standard issue > Prototypes > Nothing > Copy and Paste.

You know at first I was hesitant about Germany having the KE7, but I learned that Ethiopia purchased some and Italy occupied Ethiopia, so now it gets kind of a pass.

For Japan it should’ve been an event reward or maybe even a premium squad since they captured it from China. I know we don’t have a Chinese faction but if we did then it would be copy and paste!

Not really a fan of removing stuff. If you don’t like it just don’t use it. Just add the faction 's equivalent unique equipment into the tech tree and maybe folder the copy paste one.

Sometimes for the greater good sacrifices must be made. If they can’t just remove every single one, they can at least remove them from the research tree and anyone who already owns them can keep them. Just like the Stalingrad MP 717. Although they basically did the same thing I suggested back then when they explicitly removed the MP 717 from being in the new Merged Research Trees.

Either they remove all this gear and wipe the slate clean to maintain a universal standard, or there is no reason why they can’t just give Germany a captured MP 717 and throw captured weapons all over the place.

The MP717 situation is because that is for the Stalingrad campaign players. The Mannlicher M93 was also not added to the tech tree for the same reason, is it a captured copy paste weapon?

I have no idea why they removed the M93, unless it was just to make Stalingrad players feel a little special.

I think they should’ve kept it. There should also be a Romanian sub-faction too

The same reason as why they remove the mp717. It is to please the Stalingrad campaign players.

No captured guns in TT.
Ok in events.

It was logic before the merge, now it’s just a non sense, and we need something like a “weapon filter” in order to match the weapons with the year of the Battlefield ( and good bye volkssturm low br guns in Tunisia/ Moscow or Normandy).

I voted yes. Captured weapons are good as BP or event weapons, but the tech tree should just contain original weapons. Good also as placeholders, to be removed once a proper weapon is found (as you said, if you have unlocked and bought them, you keep them, as it happens with some pre-merge weapons, like Breda 30 for Soviets).
