M36B1: An expedient design to meet increased demand for 90mm gun tank destroyers, this was produced by utilising the standard hull of the M4A3 medium tank fitted with the open-topped M36 type turret. 187 produced by Grand Blanc Arsenal, October-December 1944.
M36B2 utilised M10 hull and had detail changes including (usually) an armoured canopy over the open-topped turret.
M36B2: Further expedient type utilising the M10 instead of the M10A1 hull. Several detail improvements including armoured covers for turret on some vehicles. 237 produced by converting existing MIO by American Loco, April-May 1945.

We all know the demand for every tank destroyer without a turret to be down tiered. far fewer demand that tanks with paper skin and open turrets receive the same treatment. if the M2M36B1 M36B2 were in game as German tanks they would all be br3 at best.
Enough of my wining i would like to see the M36B2 covered in game as a tech tree but would not mind an event tank. covering one of the many weaknesses of the M36 that being the open top. with hundreds built it would by German standards be tech tree but again wahh wahh.

For the armored cover meaning infantry weapons like pistols, shotguns, smgs, mgs, sfr, ar, sar, frag grenades ECT cannot kill the crew it has an armored cover.
Ur talking about a lightly armored tall tank at br 4 that regardless of whether it’s open topped or not will still be easily overpressured. I think those methods of dying are the least of ur concerns at that br.
And u lose the 50 cal and commander view.
And loose the ability to be killed by every weapon in the game, yes in war thunder not such a big deal but I have been killed by enough infantry in open topped tds for it to matter
Uh huh. And how often do people kill you that way at br 4 instead of with launchers explosive packs and tnt? This is a downgrade meant to solve a problem that mainly belongs to a different br bracket. And it’s boring too
I would rather move the m36 to br3 but that’s not going to happen so I want the best m36 at br4. I mostly play br2 3 but are you saying it goes from 50 percent of open toped crew kills to almost nothing in one br, yes I don’t just get my crew killed I kill large numbers of open toped tds tank crew, and see it done on the regular
Yes… cuz br 3 and above has much better players and much much better at launchers. You would understand these things if u were good at tanks
No br4 and above I play br3 and there sitting ducks,and again enlisted only no warthunder experience

Yes so listen to someone who’s solid with tanks: commander view and mg is much better than having a closed top that’s not rlly closed at high br.
Yes if you have a tank with a roof, but the open toped tanks are just death traps

The tank ur suggesting doesn’t have a roof. It has a covering. Still can shoot the guys within with small arms still can easily overpressure and still can get molotoved
No the tarp you are thinking about is not bullet proof this is made of armored plates, and if the hull can’t stop of what makes you believe I thought the armored roof could
It is bullet proof. It does not make it closed top there’s still an opening. I know this cuz I have more than 3 hours in war thunder and have placed this vehicle quite a bit. You can get ur turret crew machine gunned through the opening between the top of the turret and the metal covering.
Fine then let players choose, one it’s in war thunder so copy paste, 2 that means it’s harder just not impossible. Again it be better moving the m36 to br 3 where it belongs but if it has to be at br4 the m36b2 would reduce deaths to infantry
The m36 is fine at br 4…. It’s got a great at round and decent he.
And just needs a forcefield over the top to keep infantry from killing the crew at the minimum and a decent hull at the maximum, is there something worse at br4
Churchill VII that rocket German thing the jagdpanzer 4 the chi to the chi to late the m18 etc.
The Churchill has great armor, is the m18 br4 sorry not in my console to check. But it still makes it bottom of the barrel
