The Pershing development mirrors much Sherman in that the first was the most balanced between gun and armor. The Jumbo had more armor and the firefly had a better gun. The M26 Pershing is the Sherman the M26E1 has a better gun and the M26E5 is a Pershing Jumbo. I would like to see the M26E5 in the game as a BR5 event tank. I would love it to be tech tree a more comparable counter to the Tiger 2 H.
The successful use of the heavily armored M4A3E2 “Sherman Jumbo” created a desirability to make equivalent versions of future tank designs. This was first going to be applied to the M26 and the new up-armored variant was designated T26E5. In February 1945, it was recommended to convert ten T26E3s into T26E5s.
