They need a recoil do-over since its nearly a pistol cartridge, the M1/A1 shouldn’t be kicking like a full on Garand

Agreed. I remember how good the M1 was before the semi auto nerf. It’s still pretty good when maxed, and can take out almost anyone at most ranges with a headshot. But you’re right, the .30 Carbine round is basically a glorified pistol round, so it makes no sense why you can fire an M1 Garand (or any semi auto) faster than the M1 Carbine.
They could use the Pedersen device rifle as comparison. No recoil at all, fires pistol round.
The sights on the M1/M1A1 certainly don’t do them any favors. I think someone suggested the VG 1-5 be moved to riflemen instead of assault and that got acknowledged by the devs but I don’t have any evidence.
The M1 is incredibly light, which pushes overall controllability back in the other direction.
