The Breda 88 is a premium Italian attack aircraft currently on BR2, but it is very underpowered for the rank and I belive it should be lowered to BR1. Its flight preformance is nothing special and feels quite similar to other low rank attacker aircraft. Its guns aren’t very special either, being only three 12.7mm Breda machine guns with 1,270 rounds between the three. The bombload is where this plane is supposed to shine as it’s an attacker, but it lets down in that department as well with only three 100kg bombs. Compared to other attackers’ payloads, this is visibly quite weaker - 2x50kg + 250kg (Ju87 B and D5), 500kg (Ju87 R), 2x 100lb + 1000lb (Dauntless), 6x 100kg (Su-2 + Sb-2m). On BR1, this plane would be much better but not overpowered - considering the Potez 633 has much bigger 200kg bombs but in exchange weaker guns.
Are you looking at it as a basis of total number of weight for effective bombs? I may be misinterpreting, I’d have to look at the spread sheet but I feel like it may be worth the look.
I wouldn’t mind if it got moved to BR1 but I think this plane gets more hate than it should. It’s much faster than any Stuka and that’s enough to make it useful in my view.
I used the weight of the bombs as a general basis for comparison to other attackers at low BR. The explosive mass is more an indicator for power rather than just the weight, but is longer and more tedious to use as a comparison. For example the Breda 88’s three 100kg bombs have 50.6 kgs of explosive filler each for a total of 151.8 kgs of explosives, while the Potez 633’s two 200kg bombs with 98.7 kg filler for 197.4 kgs total.
I completely agree, it’s unclear what this clumsy plane forgot about the 2nd brigade. Yes, there are 3 x 100, but for example, the USSR has the Yak-1, 2 x 100, and very good technical characteristics compared to the nonsense 88.
