For the sake of being able to “fly below the radar”, aircraft flying low should be harder to detect (red marker doesn’t appear at such a long range).
Is radar implemented in the game?
An engineer buildable for radio squads could be a radar, so people could detect enemy planes at a longer distance.
um… well… weren’t those “radars” basically bigger than actual capture point back in the days? Imagine that little pioneer building a fortress with just a hammer : D
well they are almost imposable for AA to hit, not the new Vehicle AA guns of course, but the Engineer placed ones cant track or hit the low level ones, I use this tactic to avoid getting tagged by one hit wounder AA guns.
there are radars in the normany campaing s that literally work as capture points lol, i cant imagine the engineer basically building a enormous infrastructure out of his backpack xdxd
Nah, this is a infantry game, as a plane/tanks enjoyer i think its important for ground troops to be able to counter aircraft, “below radar” for other planes can be interesting though
They’re already impossible to detect because the directional audio is completely fucked and always has been
Technically, no. However, you as a pilot are able to see the enemy marker of a plane from a pretty good distance.
This was my primary point.
There seems to be a lot of games where an enemy fighter spends a lot of their time just circling our plane spawn point (since there is no AA like in Pacific on other campaigns). Making planes harder to spot when flying low would help to get away from them.
I think that may just be your audio settings or hardware, because mine registers pretty accurately.
No planes have never had correct directional audio
agreed
I use a headset on pc and can hear exactly from which direction the planes are coming, even the altitude.
That being said, yesterday I saw enemy planes that didnt make any sound at all.
Don’t forget, you are able to turn your engine OFF in order to be glide silently. I use this function a LOT personally. Its good for:
- Not drawing AA fire as much
- Not drawing fighters attention as much
- Not giving enemy infantry time to take cover
- Excellent way to cool your plane rapidly
- If you shut off your engine on steep ascent, you can restart it on the nose dive much more efficiently than if it had stalled out. Often leading to enemy plowing into the ground from an engine stall.
- Can help with landing when one of props has been destroyed
- Great way to fake like you have been shot down, causing enemies to fly right past you.
