you are supposed to spawn your own tank by clicking on the flag rather than the tank icon.

An old mechanic that no longer exists in Enlisted. Or at least shouldn’t.

Old? It was specifically done in order for tankers that got uptiered so that they dont turn into cannon fodder.
Sadly by making the pickable tank even worse than what you would bring on your own, the devs decided to create a troll mechanic that actually makes things worse - not better.
This isn’t actually all that old in comparison.
It would be a good mechanic if the tank given would be actually good at dealing with enemy tanks.
Instead of Panzer IV E, devs should give Panzer III J1 or Marder.
Instead of Jumbo, give players Hellcat.
Why on earth would you give a tank that is only good to bully infantry, seems counter intuitive, though the original concept was noble.

First T34 for BR3, regular T28 for BR2
Panzer IIIJ1 for BR2 and Panzer IV F2 for BR3
Seems quite logical to me
As far as I know, currently, back up tank is only given on BR2 and BR4.

I liked this mechanic because I could use the Crusader in Tunisia and leave the tank slot free for something useful in Normandy or the Pacific.

Bug. You just can’t use this tank. Sometimes I see this icon too.
