I think the levelling system is the main issue of the game so far, you get the first level or two very quickly but rarely level up at all afterwards, for someone who is for example mainly interested in tank warfare, its really frustrating to play through hours and hours of the game just to finally reach a new tier and have it unlock nothing but infantry units. and then it takes weeks more of constant grinding to get to the next llevels in your way to the new tank. i felt that the lack of progress, be it weapon deliveries or xp was the main reason why i didnt play it anymore for the last few weeks, its just not rewarding. id appreciate a feature to choose what technology or troop to level, similar to war thunders tech trees. instead of level based progress.
Welcome to Free to Play games
For Soviets your not missing much with the other tanks, default tank is best tank
For Germans Panzer 2 might be good but I never played it
I personally think there should be like light - medium and tank destroyer squads for tankers. Leveling up the squad for each of them would unlock more tanks of that variety:
Pz35t, Pz38t, Pz2 for german light armor
Pz3, Pz4, various models, for medium armor
Jagdpanzer 1, marders, stug A’s for TDs
T-26, BT-5, BT-7, T-60 for russian light armor
T-28 (no T-34s at least) for medium armor, dunno what else to add here
Su-5-1, Su-76 for TDs
That would alleviate the progression for tankers.
This is a free to play, with a very likely premium time addition with double XP, if you feel like the leveling speed is too slow. Right now, it feels about right, but I think the curve could be smoothened a little bit because at some point it goes from like 30k to 70k to 180k in 3 levels.
The pz2 is solid but it is still not quite as good as the BA-11
This is a F2P model for you. Anti-fun in its core.
The community is to blame for that, as the origional plan was to make the game pay-to-play where you’d buy every campaign individually.
But the community voted for F2P in a poll, so here we are.
I know… This is why you shouldn’t always listen to the people.
There would still be a campaign grind in the paid version, just less
I mean, they could’ve gone full Rising Storm or Post Scriptum if it was Pay to Play and Just said, Screw it no progression, all guns are unlocked, which honestly wouldn’t be terrible.
That being said, if they gave a slight XP boost for Queuing as either team it would be nice. Maining one team can get repetitive after a while, but this is still just an early alpha. Few maps few 1 campaign, small maps etc. I don’t think we’ll be able to judge progression until we see more of it and we see more campaigns.
I think the main problem with progression is the complete lack of any control over what you unlock and get next. It probably isn’t the biggest issue this game has at the moment, but it’s one of the first flaws you notice.
Yeah the loot box system is terrible. Maybe if they want to keep it make it so i can get a specific thing by spending more tokens.
Like if I want a PPD I should be able to spend 3 tokens on a PPD
I think that would be good, as well as letting us trade in unwanted stuff (knifes, kar98k’s) for tokens
P2P would’ve been a good concept for this type of game. A system with progress wipes like in EFT, but with some supplies depending how well you did in the last season, could have worked
As it is currently i can’t see newer people having a whole lot of fun fighting against veterans.
I also wonder how leveling in four different scenarios is supposed to work.
I mean i don’t think progression is TERRIBLE in this F2P.
Since bolt actions are so good and SMG’s are acquired early it avoids the problem of Veterans dominating everything
They do need to make AT the next unlock after SMG’s though, right now AT is unlocked WAY to late in the campaign and explosive packs dont cut it for newbies
We should be able to do something with the excess guns. I have 54 Mosine Carbines and another 12 of them which is 2 star. Every trooper including some in the reserves get a 2 star Mosine Carbine and there is 100 item parts for it that has not been any help.
I would suggest a general item parts section apart from the item parts for a specific gun. So, each time you dismantle a weapon, you get parts for that specific gun along with some general parts(received in much lesser number) which you can use to upgrade other guns.
As for leveling, as TCatPlaysGamezYT, I would like to see it a bit more gradual in the later stages of the campaign. Other than that, it is quite solid. There are people who have already finished it with one faction or are close to finishing it in less than a month of alpha test. You can finish it quite easily with some persistence.
The only problem I see is the difference in equipment between a veteran and a new player. It is extremely difficult to go up against players with a superior equipment than yours. Trying to clear out a zone with Kar98/Mosine is an incredibly difficult task. While you can spray kill with an automatic rifle. This hampers how fast you can level up your troops and climb the campaign levels. It would be a good idea to implement a match making system where you are separated by the level you are on. That is obviously not possible for during the alpha test but is an almost necessary addition when the game releases.
I personally think they should give the first 2 squads more starter equipment, like give them 2 grenades/explosive packs, 2 medkits each, as well as 3 smgs for the SMG users.
I don’t think the problem is that it takes too long to unlock everything. “Too long” is subjective anyway. The problem is that the process of unlocking things is unsatisfying. Unlocking in a predetermined order removes control from the player. Unlocking in large chunks with ever decreasing frequency makes is also a bad thing. The player ends up being not involved in the process and interacting with the system more and more rarely over time (which only makes it worse).
That I do agree on. You have no control whatsoever on what equipment you get.
If they are going to continue with the current loot box system, at least make it more ‘Wow’. It’s depressing to see those loading dots followed by a Mosine Carbine 1907(Which is exactly how it played out after my last game a couple of minutes ago).
