I believe everyone is well aware of this issue.
Except for Tunisia, which has no tall grass, whether it’s snow-covered Moscow or the bushy outskirts of Berlin, you can barely shoot while prone. The grass completely blocks your view, leaving you unable to spot any enemies at all — it’s just as bad as foliage covering your vision when driving a vehicle.
After reviewing real combat footage and photos from historical records, tall grass this dense and overgrown is not common on actual battlefields, especially open plains. In reality, soldiers only need to prop themselves up on their elbows and slightly lift their torsos to raise their guns above the grass. It’s ridiculous that setting up your weapon is rendered useless by vegetation in this game.
Imagine telling players of other WWII shooters that you cannot fire prone because tall grass blocks your sight, forcing everyone to crouch or stand to shoot. That would be embarrassing. Humans can easily overcome such minor obstacles to take prone firing positions in real life, yet the game fails to replicate this.
Therefore, I suggest DF fix two problems:
- Reduce the overall height of grass models to match real-world standards;
- Adjust the camera height for prone soldiers to prevent foliage from fully obstructing their line of sight.
