Greenthings commanders,
I want to report my experience with the Market Garden event and a few major problems I’ve encountered lately.
Performance / graphics
Even this time things feel rushed and unpolished. Ray tracing is not working correctly on my rig (Intel i9-13900K + RTX 4090) — with ray tracing enabled my framerate appears locked to ~30 FPS. This makes the event feel sluggish and unplayable on high-end hardware.
Networking / servers
Very often I join a match and the servers show more than 2 seconds of delay/latency. That kind of lag ruins aiming, vehicle control and the general flow of the match.
Event — Market Garden (major gameplay issues)
This event is a real mess:
• Airplane combat is pointless. It’s useless to attack American planes because you can’t eliminate the squad inside them.
• There are no decent, persistent anti-air defenses. The default AA emplacements on the map are immediately usable by whichever team gets to them first — if an American lands and captures an AA gun, Germans can no longer use that emplacement.
• Tanks are effectively unusable on that map. Every American squad seems to have AT launchers that can destroy a Panzer IV anywhere they hit it. You removed the RPzB.43 “Ofenrohr” in a previous patch for events, but it seems they were not removed from all squads (or are still functioning in some cases).
• Armored combat in such tight, close-quarters maps makes tanks trivial to counter. Small map size, weak machine-gun damage scaling and armor gaps make tanks very fragile on this type of map.
• The American side lacks a clear spawn/forward spawn point and play often feels like a cat-and-mouse chase: Germans are forced to run through streets to flush out Americans hiding in buildings. That should be the other way round — Americans are supposed to be the attackers.
Suggestions — how I would redesign the event (concrete & actionable)
1. If an aircraft is destroyed, eliminate the squad inside that aircraft — make plane losses meaningful.
2. Give the Germans more setup time before the American assault: roughly 60 seconds to place defences and prepare.
3. Use a more open map for tank combat — tanks are useless on the current tight urban map.
4. Scatter fortified objectives on the map that the Americans must blow up to destroy German defensive positions and capture ground spawn points.
5. Make German victory require one of two conditions: either destroy a set number of American aircraft, OR hold the city fortifications against American raids for a set amount of time.
Closing
There are many more smaller issues I could list, but those are the high-level problems that ruin the event right now. Please consider addressing the ray-tracing performance, server latency, the AA/tank balance and these event design changes — they would make Market Garden actually fun and playable instead of frustrating.
Thanks for reading — I hope this feedback helps.
