Gold boxes are just a dress up clothes closet. You would think for gold, it would be weapons or at least some very unique uniforms / body armor. Most look no different than regular appearance orders.
My prediction: Gold boxes will not last

I mean, yes, there’s a time limit on them. 
As an actual answer; I think they’ll change, possibly quite a lot.
But I don’t see them leaving.

Well it give money bag with an option to win squad at a discount price so I’m pretty sure some are gonna spend more than 20k gold (so far 12k is known)
They did have Japanese body armour but there was a LOT of flak from it. The accessories can now be purchased direct so you can actually get what you want. All the squads are cool but I don’t want a big chunk of them so I’m debating. Thus far I am up 2 gold from buying 2 boxes…300 gold each box.
They are essentially baiting people with the squads since lots are in the vault…a lot of minors here so kind of shady. Just put them in the store.
