Keeping the custom game editor the way it is

If/when the merge happens i suggest keeping the custom game editor the way it is now soo that players who wish to play the ‘‘current’’ game and not the merge can do soo by creating lobbies where squads are still locked to specific campaigns and map selection is limited to the choosen campaign.

This would at least be a token of appreciation for the Historical authenticity side that the merge casts away as unimportant even tho it was the crowd that supported the game initially with the moscow and normandy release.

iirc this is exactly how they plan it to be

i mean thing is they will need to enable progression in custom games then too that’s at least 50-70% as effective as pubs.

in the test merge,

in customs matches you are still able to select the campaign.

but campaigns are more of a cosmetics purpose.

( which it’s good. as you can keep whatever cosmetic if you want, or make it base on the campaign / map and the game will force the preset cosmetics of that said campaign )

additionally a few months back, it was hinted to a weapons / equipment selector which allows to ban certain weapons and vehicles based on hoster preferences.

but, nothing was shown beside the main devblog

that won’t happen:

because it’s not really in their interest custom games.
( monetarily speaking )

but of course, i could ( and hope ) to be wrong.

Yeh that means they are not.

Soo game is dead. (for anyone reading this it is a statement of fact for me the game i tested in alpha will die with the merge it will no longer be the same game).

I do hope they reconsider still and that they don’t just rush out the merge patch for nothing and kill the game completely but hey one can hope. Just a shame there are very few multiplayer ww2 shooters out nowdays.

well.

no.

it means at some point ( when the equipment selector will be integrated ) you will be able to play historical accurate all you like in customs.

you’ll need other people though.

as xps won’t change any time soon most likely.

except… you’re not the only one who tested the alpha.

many left, others remained, and occasionally people return.

it’s not that big of a deal.

if you like it, that’s good, if not. i’m sorry.

that’s quite the reaction given that the merge it self won’t come for quite some time.

given the issues of transfers and above all, still no br in sights.

al be it, if you came for historical accuracy, you’re gonna be highly disappointed and customs might bring that glims of hope.

heck, you could start perhaps creating historical mods like i’m doing
( even though i made them for pve purposes. as you can’t really get the perfect immersion with apes going full autos and the most non historical loadouts possible. while having proto weapons and what not )

but yeah, not gonna happen outside customs.

it’s simply not sustainable ( as for example, japan would literally have only 2 to 3 rifles, few smgs, one/two mgs and that’s it. the rest is proto )

they went more with a balanced approach ( in theory ) avoiding new players getting stomped by tigers and what not.

because as explained in others threads to you directly, you can’t really expect to have an endless playerbase to fill 14 campaigns.

… or being unable to get access to stuff that should have been there. for example, the bikes in tunisia should be available in all campaigns. same to the mp 34 etc.

I’m actually fine with certain weapons/vics being locked to specific campaigns.

Also i’m more in the Historical authenticity camp. being killed by a japanese prototype rifle every here and there or there being more than historically available automatic weapons in certain campaigns doesn’t really bother me much heck i’ve leared about many new and unusual weapons playing this game (and i know a lot of weapons) like for example that the EMP 36 existed and the G43 in 7.92x33 or about the many early war soviet sub guns that aren’t that well known.

What was a real sore spot tho was in the handful of battles battles i played on test server the amount of immersion breaking stuff made me quite 70% of them.

Seeing an M3 lee, P47 and US prem paras in the pacific made me just esc- desert really fast.
The BR system is also stupid for a game like this since many weapons have years between them yet perform similarly.

examples what BR will the Gerat and SKS be? they are far worse than proper semi autos like g43/Fg42/SVT-38(40)/M1G but came much later
BRs already don’t work in WT (i should know have literally over 7k hours in it since 2012)

And vehicles specifically are big point of problems for example i own the matilda (and many other prem squads especially for the pacific) its a ‘‘high lvl’’ squad in Tunisia but what BR will it be? too low and no tank can kill it too high and its a 1 shoot for everything and a waste of money.

Compensation for premium squads too. many cost ~45 eur nowdays but might go down in price sicne lower tiers and get tier unlock restriction placed on them in new progression.

I see way too many similarities with the WT system that will ruin not just the historical authenticity but also has the potential to affect premium content bought. For example i own several prem tank squads for pacific and none are as good as even the starter tanks in normandy/berlin.

And as a final point i don’t wana play multiple hours of time in unfun pubs with no map/equipment selection just to unlock a new interesting thing they might add in the future.

Unless they make an entire new game when they go to modern stuff since there is no way they won’t.
Heck i see delusional people saying ‘‘this game won’t go modern’’ yeh WT clamied the same thing 4-5+ years ago now we have modern jets and i don’t dislike the modern stuff i dislike modern stuff mixing into old stuff.

unfortunately, enlisted always have been immersion breaking.

as my adversary puts it, ( which he is not entirely wrong but at the same time, it kinda is ) it all comes down to players preferences.

which as he puts out, customs are where those type of thing should happen.

mostly because a game based on pure HA is of very niche.
you then escalate or find your self in the hot zone of having a game either too much HA or not enough HA.

which in all cases, it gets more than often replaced by casuals and arcady stuff.

because that’s what pulls more numbers.

kinda why progression have been slow with for example, HLL, or post scriptum ( heck the latter even “died” ) as well as isonzo and what not.

those are not for everyone.

Agreed, but at the same time, it puts in place some sort of balance to avoid frustrating and somewhat needless situations where as previously said, a new player might face veterans like us.

which one thing is facing a veteran with shitty weapons,
another is a veteran with tigers, stgs etc.

unfortunately, those are technical questions which no answers have been given so far.

which it’s really bad especially when being somewhat close to that said merge.

but for the matilda it self, i doubt it’s gonna be a high tier / br vehicle.

it will most likely face early panzer IVs or PZ III Js since they can pen each other.

but, that’s speculation on my part.

not sure what do you mean by that,
but they will be placed accordingly on the fighting capabilities with vehicles of the same " type ".

more or less, war thunder does that. with exception of vehicles being in brs that shouldn’t…

all for the sake of making less matchmakers. because no one will or can play 14 campaigns.

i really get this one.

but after all, there will be different brs / tiers to pick from.

so at least it’s not gonna be too bad.

but yeah, at the same time, not great for those who seek in particular the old experience.

we can only hope for improvements to the customs.

but… yeah, we both know the answer to that one.

they will, but it’s gonna be at least 4/5 years before reaching that point.

well, i saw that thread, and they are just explaining to you that this game won’t be modern any time soon in the foreseeable future.

as the content we have, are from an april fool event, which was from another game.

with that being said, i would have liked too modern stuff, but mods will do for the moment.
