Regular KE-7 is a very powerful machine gun, thanks to it not really being a classic MG - slow, with high rate of fire and big mag capacity. Instead it has rapid reload, low sprint speed penalty, and good recoil control, all combined almost makes it a select fire rifle. It’s actually too powerful for its BR, especially considering Japan doesn’t really lack in other firearms categories either.
KE-7 (50) was introduced as a BR 4 weapon, which itself isn’t really bad, but it will always be in the shadow of its seemingly weaker variant, especially since JP doesn’t really have BR 3-4 matchmaking.
So, the suggestion is to nerf the 50 round version to 65-70% Sprint Speed, increase its AdS time to that of more classic MGs like DP-27 and MG-34, and lower its Vertical Recoil further by a couple points, compensated by higher Horizontal Recoil (I guess 0,9kg of additional mass spread across the long magazine makes it slightly harder to control).
Main reason I suggest it is because a 50 round mag is just not worth it when the base 25 round version has a fast 2.0s reload, I enjoyed this gun a lot and never did I worry about reload while mag dumping the enemy squad.
Below you can see the stat comparison, green is obviously the better result, but it doesn’t usually matter (if the opposing MG has that stat marked yellow). The reload speed and mag size is the only real difference, but the latter is not that impactful to give KE-7 (50) a whole BR step higher.
I dont like trying to push it into BR 3. If you just want to turn it into a generic MG then just use a new generic MG instead of a the KE 7 that will play in no way like the one you started with initially.
You should compare the weapon stats from this table; it’s more accurate.
The recoil data shown in the weapon card doesn’t always reflect the actual behavior.
However, Euthymia hasn’t added the Ke7 (50) here yet.
I have been calling on the Dev’s to give us a 40 round BAR, however I don’t think it or a Japanese BAR clone should have big magazines in BR3. BR4 yes, to which they would (ON OCCASION) end up in a BR3 match. However, If, and that is a huge if, the Dev’s ever did consider giving the Japanese a 50 round KE7 at BR3 then they would also have to give the 40 round magazine to the Allies at BR3 as well.
