how is it a skill issue i hit the front of the tank hull the side of the tank hull the side and front of the turret, the track the front of the hull in the middle again everything but the back, where should i have hit it
and again when you say get good you are supposed to say how

Here’s today’s lesson on overpressure:

Know yourself - Look up on the War Thunder wiki the tank you wanna use, scroll down to its armaments and look at the different shells it uses. Then check how much pen the HE shell has, in this case the 105 HE has 27 mm of pen.

Know your enemy - Look at the armor breakdown of the vehicles you intend to face, if you don’t own certain vehicles then ask for screenshots from someone who does. Look for any spots that have less armor than your HE shell has pen, common weakspots include hull roofs, turret roofs, and the bottom of the hull sticking out over the tracks.

Win your battles - Go to the practice range and aim for the thin parts, typically just getting close enough will overpressure but results vary. Look for the overpressure explosion effect in the damage analysis screen, practice range vehicles don’t have crew so unless there’s ammo where you hit you won’t destroy the vehicle. Once you know your spots go and have fun slapping tanks with HE.
Yeah 27mm of pen at br3 is a shit tank most br3 tanks have 50mm or more of armor over almost all of the tank. If I have to hit an area barley bigger than my 4 inch shell it’s a shit tank for fighting tanks. Given I can see panthers it’s even worse.

Now I’m gonna say skill issue cause the 105 is literally the best BR3 tank in the game.
In downtiers you’re almost invincible from the front, against BR3 you can pretty easily one shot everything you face, and in uptiers you can still fairly easily one shot everything you face.
Some tanks have so little armor that you don’t have to aim at all, but if you treat HE like it’s AP and shoot the thickest parts of the armor then you’ll end up going on the forums and saying that it’s trash.
Sorry but what are you talking about, the only area it can pen is what the top of the tank and like the mg port , yeah it can kill br2 tanks easily but that it getting down tiered not at it br or a higher br. If you set the standard to it can pen the top of the tank and a few tiny weak points by that standard there is not a bad tank, yeah it has great armor that’s it as far as tank in tank combat.
Keep thinking like that, just don’t complain that you can’t kill tanks cause you never bothered learning where to shoot

The f2 g and j same armor, what pen do those tanks have bet it’s better than that
If you have any of those tanks unlocked you check the colored in armor analysis, if you looked at that you’d see that the sloped plate on the front is a giant weak spot and the hull roof is also a giant weak spot.
I will reiterate, skill issue
Again in enlisted given the lack of verticality and small maps the top of the tank is not a valid target for other tanks so only that plate which makes up 10 percent of the tank is a valid target, again what is the pen of the panzer 4, if the panzer v can only pen a similar area then it is a skill issue, so take the easy win tell me the pen of the panzer 4 which might event with the armor of the 105 Sherman be comparatively worse.
You are so full of it unless it has under 38mm of pen it can Penn the side of the Sherman and 51mm for the side of the turret 64mm for any part of the hull and 76 for any part of the tank that’s not a difference of skill that a difference of guns
I went into the practice range and overpressured a Panzer IV H, the Panther A and G, and the Tiger E and H1 with one shot each. I’d send it but the file wasn’t compatible with the forums or something.

Then I guess the skill issue is your tanking on top of your shooting. Both the 105 Sherman and the king barrel Panzer IVs can one tap each other easily so the skill issue now comes down to your situational awareness and positioning.
Again if the 105mm can only pen the top and one plate on the front
And the pz4 can pen the entire Sherman it’s not a skill issue it’s a gun issue

The roof and that front plate were just examples, you can shoot the inside of the tracks, you can shoot most of the turret, you can shoot the top of the outside tracks, etc etc etc.
In a one on one engagement with a Panzer IV H the result of the battle depends on stuff like your aim, your positioning, your situational awareness, and how good your opponent is. It’s a fair matchup that could go either way, and if you lose every fight with a Panzer IV H in a 105 Sherman then that is purely your own fault.
Skill issue
If the pz4 is more than 38mm pen accept you bull shitters award, no you can’t all of those areas have 30mm of armor it won’t pen. Only the top and front plate can be penned , not to mention the h has a skirt and additional turret armor for direct 8mm more armor plus the air gap which from the super Pershing means the air gap adds more protection, you yourself said the 105 has 27mm of pen did you get it wrong caus in battle it held up
