In my opinion, the most important thing that needs to happen to fix the economy is making new squad/vehicle unlocks free again.
The change to paying for new unlocks with silver was a horrible idea in my opinion. Despite the increased choice players have since the merge with selecting what to research, it is inevitable that players will spend a lot of research points on unlocks they don’t want or care for.
In the campaign system, when I researched something I wasn’t interested in it was just a mild annoyance. Something I would have to get out of the way before getting to a better unlock. It was even somewhat rewarding to eventually get the uninteresting unlock, because it was a free option in case I ever wanted to use it. In the merge, it is now a chore for players to get past unwanted squads. They have to pay for the privilege of continuing down the tech tree, making these unlocks far more annoying and it drains the silver of new players from spending on buying more or upgrading the equipment they actually enjoy.
Paying for new squads is proving to be very expensive (especially for new players) and significantly reduces the excitement of unlocking a new reward. Not every design aspect from Warthunder needs to be ported over.

I know, higher end vehicle and weapon upgrades will stay expensive (as they are with current economy changes). So silver purchases are just for convenience, as they should be. The new player experience needs to be improved and free squads would be a step in that direction.

That’s how War Thunder does it, so that’s how DF chose to implement a research tree and BR system. Like how War Thunder does it. Once again, the consequences of asking the game to be War Thunder: Infantry Edition
As a community, we can at least try to push Darkflow to alter the system for the sake of this game. Warthunder’s system is not a perfect fit for this game, squads cost a lot to equip and upgrade in comparison to the tanks in Warthunder. I think the devs are capable of understanding that it can be improved on.

Look I was against War Thunderisation from the get go. I saw people advocating for Battle Ratings and other crap and I was disgusted. I play War Thunder. I don’t enjoy playing War Thunder. I play it out of Stockholm Syndrome and because there is literally no other game like it anywhere. I play Enlisted because I LOVE ENLISTED. I don’t want my War Thunder in my Enlisted. People still cried out wanting it though, and so we got it. The bed has been made, and now we have to lie in it. Best get comfortable because I’m sure it’ll get worse before it gets better

1st copy of a gun used to be a freebie pre-merge. Lets you test things out as a sort of free sample.
Now you have to pay for your first copy, and you need it to progress, so…
I hope you have a lot of silvers lying around.
