Ever since the JU-188 was moved from BR4 to BR5, and especially after it had to start facing Meteors, it has become apparent that it’s ability to defend itself is almost depressing.
Having to depend on defensive AI gunners to not get shot down results in your plane getting shot down 99.9% of the time. Meanwhile a plane like the TU-2S is able to remain dominant in the sky despite being a massive target tanks to its frontal armament.
This change would give a Ju-188 pilot a single front facing 20mm cannon with 250 rounds of ammunition, enough to punish any pilot dumb enough to get outmaneuvered by the twin engine bomber but enough to put it on par with fighters or even other attack aircraft.
Either this, or the ai needs a performance boost. When ever I’ve tried to use this thing, the ai don’t seem to really want to shoot at enemy aircraft like they do on other planes.
I prefer AI gunner buff, considering they can’t even shoot enemy planes that comes directly towards us shooting in straight line without doing any maneuver
There has been such a situation in the past, where there was a situation where a person who tried to attack died rather easily due to ridiculous performance.
Since then, They have nerfed AI.
I think they’ll have to look at the halfway point.
I don’t think the AI gunners need a buff, but every plane outside BR1 needs to have forward facing guns to make sure a good pilot can actually defend themselves.
Having to rely on AI is gonna come down to RNG, and also is just gonna get you killed if an enemy pilot has half a brain cell.
The xa-38’s ai gunner does an absolutely great job. If this plane was on par there would be no complaints. Maybe both is needed? My ai didnt even fire a single round at enemy bombers when i was directly behind them. Something wrong with that
You have to set controls up much differently than the default settings to take full advantage of planes, and especially in this manner. I’m going to be posting a thread of my controller settings/binds soon. Have probably spent a few dozen hours trying different binds and settings out to see what works best. Don’t think many console folk really know how to get the most out of planes.
