Japanese sniper scopes question

Recently I’ve seen a few pictures of Japanese type 99 rifles with scopes that don’t have the rubber eyepeices:


Was there any Japanese scopes that didn’t have a eyepeice or are these just missing that part?

All scopes had eyepeice, but they are very poorly preserved to this day .

I also saw this image of a scope that claimed it was rare and it appears to have no attachment point for a eyepiece, do you know anything about this scope?

Japanese sniper rifles - an investigation

Hello everyone! I’d like to share a little bit of my mini-investigation into Japanese sniper weapons. Let’s start with the Type Ko, Type Otsu, and Type Hei rifles. Most rifles have a scope mount. The Type Hei even has a special cover to protect the scope mount from dirt.
