The Japanese faction has no access to the ampulomet for either the flamethrower or assault engineer squads, which is probably historically accurate. However, if historical accuracy is the reason for this limitation, why do the Germans and US/UK have access to a similar option?

I agree, if at least one nation that has them did not have them then give Japan them or something along the same line. But, that would be the wrong squad. You get a machine gun or the ampulet not both.
Seems to be the right squad after all. The assault engineers do have this ability.
The screenshots below are from the 78th Separate Engineer Battalion (USSR) and the 121st Engineer Battalion (US). Sadly, I don’t have the German one on my list (157th Engineer Battalion), but it seems to have the ability as well. The Japanese 105th Engineer Regiment, however, does not have access to the ampulomet.

Either everyone has it or no one does, so the Axis camp should be treated equally.
