Technically the Type Hei Late rifles should be compatible with that 20 round magazine of the full auto version

Would be a great BRIV TT semi auto
This is a captured Browning am I correct?
Is it then similar to this weapon? I am not really into Browning lore so idk
“Ground converted Army Type 89”

Type 97 7.7mm is the aerial machine gun used for A6M Zero. In my picture its been modified for ground use as LMG.
Its Japanese licensed copy of Vickers Class E machine gun
Type 89 7.7mm is also japanese licensed copy of the Vickers Machine gun.

The Army and Navy didnt get along.
Army had Type 89 7.7mm
Navy had Type 97 7.7mm
Both are similar and licenced copies of the same gun

I keep trying to add this info, but get a 422 error because the forum keeps saying I am editing the same post in another window (I am not).
I will add them when this issue is resolved.
So does this information describe which scope the Type 4 uses?
I made a post serving as a full and comprehensive report on this weapon and it’s ammunition. Along with photos and diagrams that show the weapon in its full specifications ![]()
great, I will put it in the links once I can edit again
i really dont know how this is supposed to be useful for the developers if all of these weapons are included under one vote
No, that’s just an abstract statement. But I will note that there’s quite a bit of space on the left side of the Type 4 receiver, and in theory, a scope rail could be mounted there.
There is an interesting passage from Jiro Sayama’s book:
"海軍が使用した四式自動小銃は主要機構はアメリカ軍制式兵器のガーランド自動小銃を模倣し、固定弾倉に九九式小銃実包一○発を装填できるようにしたもので、落下傘降下部隊でも使えるように折畳式としたものもある. "
"The Type 4 Automatic Rifle (Yon-shiki Jidō Shōjū) used by the navy had a primary mechanism copied from the US Army’s standard-issue weapon, the Garand semi-automatic rifle, and was adapted to load 10 Type 99 Rifle Cartridges into a fixed magazine. There were also versions with a folding stock for use by parachute/airborne units."
Given that the specifications of the Type 4 rifle from Jiro Sayama’s book are identical to those from the Naval Land Weapons Handbook, I suspect that the special Type 4 rifle is mentioned in the left column (highlighted in blue), while “sniper shooting” is mentioned in the right section (highlighted in red). Unfortunately, the description on the left is of very poor quality, and I can’t make out the characters. My point is that there were likely different Type 4 prototypes, and a sniper version could very likely have existed or been planned, given that as early as 1933, the Type Ko, Type Otsu, and Type Hei rifles had the ability to mount a telescopic sight, and further development of a self-loading rifle was considered as a sniper rifle. I also found a document about Japanese developments (1943?, I don’t remember exactly), which talked about a self-loading rifle with a gas automatic, a 10-round magazine and a 4x optical sight, but the rifle’s magazine was listed as rotary/(box?).
That’s relevant; Japan deserves its weapons, even if they have good equipment, it’s depressing to see so few weapons for Japan. ![]()
This post is satisfying to read! Both the comments and the post itself are really interesting! ![]()
I understand your point, but this post is not really about one individual weapon but rather rather to do two things:
That was what the vote was about, I maybe should have been more clear about that sorry.
Besides the two listed reasons, this post is also an attempt to create a repository for Japanese weapons found on the Russian and English forum in one handy list.
It looks cool!
I will add it when the bug is fixed.
Its Japanese sawed-off M1 Carbine (NOT the M2 Carbine), just with the auto-fire modification. And yes it uses standard 15 round mag.
It could be great event weapon or even TT weapon on 2/3 BR. But no, the developers add the saved-off M2 Carbine for Japan and which just didn’t exist.
I was looking the other day and thinking how small Japan’s TT is in conparison to those of the other countries. I don’t play as Japan very often, but I do want to see them have more on their TT
At least in theory it means they could add the M1 sawed off modified w/15rd mags as an event item, like a Guerilla squad or something
As an event weapon it would have been great yeah, but not in the TT.
Then it is just copy paste instead of something new and interesting.
It feels like when Japan finally gets something they stil end up drawing the short end of the stick
