Not sure if I got insanely lucky or glitched rules of existence, but I managed to kill a Sherman with HE, twice (First was with IV J, second Panther). I landed shot somewhere near side of an engine, from 90 degrees to the right side, while the Sherman was slightly above my level. Couldn’t replicate it in practice for some reason.
You killed the crew for some reason, normally you can kill sherman with HE hitting the side were ammo are stored, if i miss something free to say

I think the shell camera (where the shell damage is being shown), showed fuel tanks and engine igniting

Fuel explosion maybe?
I never see a fuel explosion in this game, usually the engine burn and kill the crew, what happened here is very rare or maybe a hidden feature wo appear as a momentary bug
Fuel wont explode because it’s a diesel engine
Indeed, you can! You just have to aim at this point of it’s armor. (don’t know what it is called)

that’s the whole point… It wasn’t the ammo that set off, it was fuel tanks + engine. That’s the thing that left me confused the most, I don’t think fuel fire can kill the tank instantly?
did the HE blast also kill the ammo racks too? perhaps it probably blend in with the color and you dont see it
I mean, it’s in warthunder and judging by what he said, it seems logical.
I myself haven’t seen it in Enlisted yet, but i haven’t seen it much in warthunder either, so it’s possible it might be there somewhere.
Blending is the only possibility, since the animation showed shrapnels coming from somewhat top of the engine, destroying engine and then the fuel tanks, it didn’t showed them going any further, yet the Sherman did the funny.
(edit: I have never seen Shermans x-ray, just the armour profile, by any chance there’s some hidden ammo near the engine compartment?)
