Hello everyone!
I really like the game. But after the latest update, in INVASION mode (where you either attack a point or defend it), it’s become simply impossible to defend a point.
When an enemy enters it, it starts to shift in their favor, and once all the enemies are destroyed, it doesn’t reset. This completely defeats the point of defending it. It’s like a game of rifle baseball, or at least give me the option to remove this mode from the game. I don’t want to defend points in this mode anymore! I won’t even mention the fact that the respawn points are so far away. Thanks everyone.
That’s why you need to build rally points and use apcs
… and suck less, defend better! Use engineers to build out and trap, build spawns, gaslight enemy, learn where their enter points are and use the 4 D’s of defence… defend, duck, dodge and defend xxx
They how about not letting the enemy touch the point in the first place then?
Invasion is more or less balanced just the skill of some playerbases are not.
I mean, I do agree its a shame that you cant even vehicle slowly recover lost progress, especially since it only takes one enemy push to flip the table, ideally it would be nice if it was like the cart in TF2, where you could slowly push it back if you can hold onto the attackers cart for long enough.
Saying that, espicially about reinforcement points, you need to learn to build rallies, they are the single best way to win games, engineers are vital, also begin to experiment with engineer defences on the defence, barbed wire and sandbags are vital to any good defence, Tank traps can work well as solid barricades if used in the right places too.
Combine these defences with map knowledge to make killboxes and chokepoints/bottlenecks.
Build rallies destroy rallies that’s how you win holding the cap is a waste of time if the enemy can just come right back easily and you can’t. (I hate saying it but this in fact a skill issue.)
I agree with Wenli on the engineers point all of your squads should have at least one at bare minimum.
Not entirely, its time and place I find. Sometimes you and your two braincells are the only ones able to hold the point, particularly so against veteran players who are cycling SMGs/etc. In which cases your options are limited.
There is also the fact that some points actually offer weirdly enough the best spots to destroy common rally spots, in particular on urban maps and moreso when you have some sort of long range explosive.
However yes as you say, the cycle of hunting rallies and building rallies is also important, when you really need to hunt rallies is when you see enemy squads push onto the point from either flank or large numbers coming very frequently from the front up close, but imo, hunting rallies beyodn 100m from the point is rarely worth the time and effort.
Another good option is marauding in front of the point like some sort of windshield wiper. By going back and forth along the line of contact, ideally with a medium rate SMG of sorts (think PPS-42, MP40 like), chip away at enemy squads as they advance, if possible prioritise enemy radio ops and AT soldiers (both easy to identify and rarely do non dedicated squads have more than one), this really helps your team by allowing them to hold more open positions on the point and allows friendly tanks to get closer and more aggressive in defending the point which is often vital to a good defence.
Not holding the point is probably going to lose. Every time on defense, the only way you will win is to hold the point. Here lately I have seen several games that over half the team is 150m+ away and the battle is over quickly. It would not be so bad if they pushed forward in offense, but they are sitting on the sidelines waiting for a miracle , I guess … not really sure the train of thought.
Block the attackers by pushing their flanks and destroying their rallies.
Yea, works great when you have 10 squads working. But almost every game is someone flying a jet at 1500m in a circle to point hunt other planes, another building a point 140m away, two AI squads to replace the 2 that just deserted because they did not like defending, and another sitting 200M from point and just not really sure why they are even there for …
Works fine for me I don’t call myself SneakyFish for nothing.
That’s not quite true. Defending is actually easier than attacking. As a skilled player, I could (maybe) manage to defende the game against a four stack whose players aren;t as strong as I am, provided I have some random teamates who build rallies. This is the case across all nations.
My chances of winning invasion as an attacker (solo queue) against a weaker four stack, are much lower.
Defending allows you to use aggressive tactics; you can prioritize speed and try to extend the time you combat the enemy, instead of worrying not to die. Die as much as you want, but always make sure you can get back into combat as quickly as possible with ambitious rallies.
This is why when it comes to fair games like in clan wars, they never do invasion. It benefits the defenders.
