Isu152

Curious to see if the ISU-152 will be a Tiger II killer.

Concussive Shockwave: Even if its massive 152 mm High Explosive (HE) shell failed to pierce the Tiger II’s thick frontal armor (150 mm at 50 degrees), the sheer kinetic impact and massive explosive filler would crack the armor, shatter welds, and spall (flake) metal off the inside. This would easily incapacitate the tank and often kill the crew from the massive shockwave alone.

In war thunder this thing is so heavily nerfed its actually not very good at killing tanks from the front.

Only if there is some sort overpressure mechanic for it.

It have same gun as KV2 no?

What the KB2 can do, it can do too. It’s basically just a turretless KB2. It only gets pushed to BR4 just because it has extra AP rounds that can pen the front of Tiger and Panther tanks.

KB2?

You mean KV2.

Russian Cyrillic letter в translates into V or maybe W.

In this case, it’s like “V.”
I think it’s a mistake by the auto translator—a lot of it has to be corrected manually((

Historically speaking, even without any explosive filler, its shells could instantly kill tank crews inside purely by shockwave through armor, let alone rounds fitted with HE filler. In reality, these high-explosive shells could easily tear apart the Ferdinand tank. Yet in the game, they can only set its engine on fire.

In real combat, hitting the front armor of the Tiger 2 would likely disable the machine gunner, driver and entire transmission components via overpressure.

But the game is utterly rigid; overpressure damage simply does not work as it should. HE shells are nothing but fixed stats here. No matter the actual effect, damage beyond the set value is impossible to trigger any substantial destructive changes. What’s more, the game lacks proper physical destruction mechanics entirely.

No, they aren’t the same. It has a longer barrel and can fire an extra shell with 170mm penetration compared to the KV-2, yet it still can’t pierce the Tiger 2’s frontal armor. This round only works against Panthers and regular Tigers. To deal with Tiger 2s, you still have to rely on the same HE shells as the KV-2.

In other words, this armor-piercing shell is barely practical. It is essentially just a turretless KV-2.

Yeah that was just a translation error honestly.

Seriously, if this vehicle gets moved up to BR4, how are German Sturmgeschütz IV gonna stay at BR3? It even has thicker armor than the ISU series.

You’re being sophistical again. Are anti-tank vehicles and howitzers used to destroy infantry the same thing? The ISU-152 was primarily designed for infantry combat with high-capacity high-explosive charges, and it’s the best weapon for eliminating infantry—don’t think I don’t know that. If you upgrade your Panzer IV to Tier IV, you also need to upgrade your KV-2 to Tier IV

If we don’t adjust the ISU-152 now, we’ll have no grounds to argue against moving Germany’s Sturmtiger to BR 3 later. Besides, I suggest you check the historical records again. The ISU-152 was clearly designed primarily to destroy concrete fortifications. No one would waste such a large-caliber gun purely on anti-tank and anti-infantry tasks. It excels at attacking fortifications first, with anti-tank capabilities as a secondary role.

Can you name any aspect where its protection surpasses the KV-1 and KV-2? Just its Degtyaryov machine gun?

Don’t act like a child. If you want to play War Thunder, go back to War Thunder. Enlisted can’t possibly make vehicles that appeared in the Battle of Berlin in 1945 appear in Stalingrad or Rzhev in 1943. That’s a matter of historical fact, not a matter of your personal preference.
