Isn’t there way too much grass in‑game?

When playing maps like Omaha Beach and Normandy, I tried other beach‑landing games such as CoD WWII, Red and Iwo Jima titles. The contrast really stood out to me.

Do you think there is too much vegetation on the Normandy beaches?
  • yes

Enlisted has by far the densest trees, grass and bushes. Vegetation not only blocks sightlines, it also absorbs projectiles. Lots of trees on Normandy block German tanks from climbing hills, making high‑ground defence difficult and offering few good tank positions.

In your opinion, for areas around the bunkers on Normandy beaches, should there be more vegetation, or should it mainly consist of open grassland with plenty of emplacements?
  • More vegetation would be better.
  • Less. There was not that much vegetation in reality

Omaha Beach is even worse, with ridiculously thick foliage. Once a tank drives into tall grass, your vision gets almost completely obscured. Compared with other games and modern‑day photos of real‑world battle sites, the vegetation is around 80‑90 % historically inaccurate.

I have watched player‑made comparison videos that contrast in‑game locations with real‑world footage taken by people revisiting actual battle sites.

Other games clearly put genuine effort into scene recreation. When it comes to Enlisted, I wonder whether some maps reference real locations at all or are just original creations. Historical fidelity feels heavily compromised.

Pre‑placed coastal‑gun and machine‑gun emplacements are barely useful. Thick grass blocks our sightlines while shielding enemy infantry as they sneak close to attack.

Buildings and bunkers are modelled with battle damage, complete with large shell holes on their fronts for infantry to crawl through. Meanwhile the vegetation looks overgrown, as if the area has been abandoned for years. This creates a jarring contradiction.
I know the game has PVE elements with many poorly‑behaved, high‑casualty AI bots. Still, there is no need to over‑stack vegetation. Most open flat areas are pushed to map edges away from main fighting zones.

Historically, anti‑tank and anti‑air emplacements behind trees only had sparse foreground foliage and kept clear fields of fire. In‑game vegetation shuts down vision almost entirely, favouring infantry ambushes and artificially forcing combat ranges down to under 50 metres. It feels contrived and unpleasant.

Dense foliage fragments large‑scale battles. It does not feel like a proper big‑theatre battlefield, and I dislike this design.

Id rather not get shot across the map because there is no foliage.
