I’m bringing this up because every time I lay prone with my soldier, the grass on the ground completely blocks my view. There’s no way to hide it, so lying flat basically makes you blind, and you just get picked off by enemies. If you stand up instead, you become an easy target and get shot down anyway.

But real life isn’t like this at all. Plenty of historical photos show soldiers fighting on Soviet territory and other battlefields—even when lying prone, they could still aim and shoot forward. They weren’t just firing blindly.
This brings up a real issue. Judging by real photos and the height of an MG tripod, a prone soldier should be at least a quarter of a meter off the ground. That should be tall enough to see over most wild grass. But in Enlisted, it’s nowhere near enough.
After taking a close look yesterday, I think there are two possible reasons. One is that the grass in the game is modeled unrealistically tall, or it’s intentionally designed to stop you from shooting while prone. The other is that the camera perspective isn’t positioned at the soldier’s eye level, but lower, around the chin or neck area. Some games like CS don’t place the view at eye level either; their camera is mounted straight onto the gun instead.
I want to bring this up with everyone first. If most people agree, I plan to make a suggestion post with three proposals:
- Lower the height of the grass a bit. That way we can lie prone without getting our vision completely blocked.
- Add a new keybind to flatten grass in front of us, creating a clear line of sight. Right now the grass acts like stiff springs—it gets pushed down then bounces right back up.
- Raise the player’s prone camera perspective. When we go prone and set up our guns, we’re supposed to be able to aim and engage enemies, not get blinded by grass. We should be able to slightly lift our upper body just enough to aim over the vegetation and spot targets.
Honestly what I want to complain about is this: trees aren’t some protected wildlife you can’t touch, nor are they impenetrable walls.
Just because of a few trees blocking your line of fire, you’re forced to stand up and reposition. It’s like being held back over nothing—so frustrating and awkward. You’ve got hands, you could just push aside that soft grass out of the way easily.

DF clearly didn’t think this through when designing the game. How can you even claim to simulate World War II with this kind of detail oversight?
