For beta test purposes I started playing with a new account, and as the grind begun I noticed I became a good player (second-third, whereas I was average before). So obviously my performance has increased a lot, or… Those enemies were almost all bot squads or beginners (in the Avangard Collective Farm capture mode).
Same paths used, same places to stop for a while, easy to learn where to attack the squads from, 5-6 kills with one of my squad members of level 3 infantry. Normally it takes 5-6 of MY squad to kill a single good player. They were threspassing point A en masse, meaning 2 or 3 squads rushing through, but not staying long enough to capture the position (if I weren’t hiding there with my squad they would have been successful). They left the place without capturing it and it did not matter that I shoot some of them in the back, they just marched through to the train so I’d call them attention deficit disorder bots. As you can see my bots also had this problem:
I’ve never seen this behaviour before, is it new, or were I lucky/inattentive before?
All in all I think at low level some different matchmaking decisions are done and we are against less strong enemies (more squads are full AI perhaps) or it was just an extreme setup for me last round.
I haven’t seen the dancing in place all that much, but I haven’t noticed a particular increase in AI efficiency until about a week or so ago. They’re still prone to catching bullets and stupid pathing choices, but they do seem to hit more shots on average. I don’t think they use full AI squads in the Squads gamemode, and if they do it it fairly rare.
I don’t think all 3 players’ squads would leave a capture point before it is cleaned up, and stop in the same spot after leaving A. It was like watching a movie two or three times again, only my part changing. Second time I was prepared, third time it was an “am I cheating?” feeling. And they did not try to return while A was being recapured by me within 5 seconds.
If it’s AI then it’s poorly scripted currently. Another reason why I’d use that button.
