Is there any point in the last 2 levels of Allied Normandy?

In most of the campaigns the last 2 levels give a pretty good boost to capabilities - but it seems to me for Normandy the last 2 allied levels have a Tommygun and the M-18, and neither seem to be much better than what has gone before…

Sure the M-18 is fast, but the open top is a major problem, the 76mm is the same as in the Sherman… so what’s the point?

And the tommygun is a marginally better SMG, but … meh…

it annoys me that you are using hyphens in american designations, also the m18 is just a fun vehicle imo

M-18, M-36, M-10, M-4 blah blah blah :stuck_out_tongue:

“fun vehicle” for you in what way? That’s a subjective value which differs for every person.

In the Normandy campaign, the M18 Hellcat is not used as a normal tank because it is a tank destroyer. Due to the open turret, you should keep it at a distance and fire, preferably from a high altitude position. There are maps that allow this, and there are maps where you are with your hand in the potty.

M18 commander can now duck, very powerful gun, kills tigers in one shot, yes there is a point.

american designations annoy me… ffs every branch of weapons has m1, m2, m3 etc.

it’s fast and i have fun with the speed of it

I bet the M18 would be good in Tunisia maps.

I love the M18. I can shoot and scoot and actually be tactical with it all over the map. That 50 seems a bit weak imo, taking 2-3 hits to kill an enemy and it overheats really fast like the old MG heating. But it works great as a long range mobile gun platform. Can even use it to smoke some planes.

probably not, since it’s not well armored and tunisia has not much cover maybe it could be good on moscow like maps instead

No, not really. I think I can count on one hand the amount of M18’s I’ve ever seen going from lvl 1 to 39.

It’s open topped so it’s useless in any close fight with infantry and could be easily penned at long distance by a high powered rifle it’s turret armor is so thin. I think LMG could pen it close range let alone an HMG. There is no tank that couldn’t pen that thing.

You easily do without it. It’s a very meh glass cannon.

And yes you don’t really need that tommy as it’s barely an upgrade, all the tommies except the one that has the drum clip are sidegrades to each other.

Your time would probably be better spent grinding out the other campaign sides unless you really enjoy Normandy Allies.

Ducking is good - but the 76mm Sherman has the same gun without being open topped, so that’s not actually a point.

Pretty much what I thought too - I’m near the top of all the allied campaigns, and about to finish Axis Moscow… but Normandy allied?? … just meh…

Oh yeah thats Night and Day being low level to finally getting tanks with long cannons to compete with that sovietanium and weapons to compete with as Axis in Moscow once you get into the higher levels.

Otherwise that campaign sucks atm to start from lvl 1 as Axis it’s painful as the Soviets start strong and stay strong. Glad I grinded out most of it to start when the matches were a little closer together and not so rare to see a full team of competent Axis players in Moscow.

Everyone is talking about doing Berlin for it’s High level equipment, but some of the nicer allied equipment I like is the A20 with 12 M8 missiles in Tunisa. Its a fun big bird to tank hunt with once you get a hang of the wing span width on firing the missles. I’m curious if we will see in Normandy eventually once they merge tech lines with the US and Brits.

I dont think i will ever use the M18.
When ever i see an open top vehicle, ill just jump up on the tank and shoot down the turret.

I think the only valid placement would be out of bounds for the enemy infantry.

Do it either way, if you play the game beyond the grind, aka, for fun, you will get it either way,

And, you will be 1 level away from the next level of drop content.
