Is anybody managing to use tanks normally anymore?

I mean… There’s a few points on certain maps where they’re still good, overpowered even (overwatch position from mountains looking down at a control point in a valley)… But it seems like on the vast majority of maps and points, tanks just don’t do anything anymore. Not because of the vehicles, but because of the map clutter.

Normally I’d either snipe other tanks from afar, or rush the point while blasting HE - Very fun. But nowadays, more than half my armor has to be abandoned in a crater somewhere. I’ll have 1-2 ways out of spawn, maybe 3, but they’re already bombed full of holes, and/or some guerillas are just perma camping it since the tank spawn is so far from friendly infantry, and completely boxed in.

Maybe pilots have a similar experience on Berlin, I could see that being the case! Or maybe it’s just me! You guys managing to drive those things anywhere?

Just like in real life, tanks are completely situational or meant as a counter to enemy units. Even so, you’re absolutely right; I’ve been complaining for years about the unnecessary map clutter. Combined with the poor driving mechanics (basically, you can only drive forward because the moment you try to turn, the vehicle stops dead in its tracks just to rotate, which makes no sense), it makes moving a vehicle on many maps—which are already difficult enough—even worse. This is especially true for caterpillar-tracked buses like the Ferdinand, the IS-1, IS-2, etc.

You guys never played Heroes and Generals. These tanks handle like a dream compared to that crap show. A rock could stop your tank, a rock could flip your tank, the tanks had about as much mass as a helium balloon and handled like a bouncy house.

You might know too much about budget cutting tanks because all tanks are made with hellium because other stuff is too expensive so theoretically we all play with ballons who shoot with rocks
