The current caps sizes are very small which allows aircraft and arty spam to be overly effective. I think it would be interesting and lessen the balance out support spam, if the caps were encompass a bigger areas like a trench system or area of a town; I think this would make it feel more like a battle as firefights occur within a slightly area. I understand this may mean the attackers would lose too many tickets taking each cap, maybe give the defenders tickets so they can’t just counter attack at no cost; they may have to fall back into order to conserve tickets.
About what maps are you talking?
I do get the probs of plane / arty spam. The prob of planes is for sure: its the only purpose planes have right now. Since most people dont mark enemies (which actually tells your AI to focus on that point but who cares). The prob of arty is not the small area, its the fact that you can literally bug / block out all of the enemies AI AND you can ensure the enemy players have a really bad aim. The fact about players aim MIGHT(!!) be solved by increasing cap size, but the other prob wont be changed.
By increasing an objectives size, you might add a META in which everybody sits in a corner just to be inside the cap. What wouldve been needed is a feature, which increases your “pressure” on a cap the closer youre to its center.
But adressing arty: what really buggers me is the fact, that arty can solely be used to a) piss off players by causing shaky aim and b) to block the whole AI and resulting in you not being able to defend / cap properly. Invasion is therefore quite much undefendable since the attackers will spam arty right behind the cap and even if you drop it, every small inch of the cap will get the attackers closer to the win, you cannot change anything about it as defender.
Its a general observation on invasion maps, like D-day, vaux, monastery. Its my preference to fight over larger areas i guess; I would prefer fighting over a trench system or town center than charging into a single building.
