Introduction
This is just one of the ways to better reduce the power gap between BR V and BR IV. The Devs have made it clear that we can’t do +/- 0 BR, and the biggest difference between BR IV and V is select-fire rifles, so I thought I’d focus on that. MajorMcDonalds has mentioned the Devs are finally looking at changing the Meta of BR V, and bring some sense back into using a variety of classes.
The easiest option would be to just nerf select-fires by way of recoil, rpm, damage, or dispersion a mix of both. But it realistically won’t change anything in the big scheme of things, considering that it still allows for 3x 9 man squads to run around with select-fires, albeit a little less effectively. Hence why I’m proposing to introduce a whole new class, called the Autorifleman class.
The Autorifleman Class
So, my idea is essentially lock select-fire rifles to a special class only. Meaning that Rifleman and other rifle using soldiers (engineers, at gunners, radiomen etc.) can only use a semi auto or bolt action. Nerfs can be implemented as well along with this new class, however, I think that would be slightly overkill. My personal opinion is either one or the other, but I’m rooting for the Autorifleman more so than outright nerfs to the guns.
Now the more technical part is how we decide to balance them in terms of Autoriflemen to other soldiers in the squad. I personally believe something like 4-5 in a 9 man squad is the way to go, as it still maintains the rifleman aesthetic while still limiting select-fires to those specialists only. But, I have listed all the possible ways to balance them without completely destroying the purpose of them.
- Assault style (4 autorifleman out of 7 total soldiers)
- MG style (3 autorifleman out of 7 total)
- Medic / Guerilla style (5 Autoriflemen but no specialists)
- New Style 1 (4 Autoriflemen out of 9 total)
- New Style 2 (5 Autoriflemen out of 9 total)
- Just remove select-fires permanently (Devs probably wont)
- Other (explain)
Other specialists within the squad
Normally I wouldn’t create a poll about this, but it’s pretty important in my eyes at least, especially when referring to select-fire rifles. They’re basically designed to make SMGs, ARs and MGs obsolete and do their job better. So, it got me thinking as to whether we include Assaulters, MGs and Medics in with the squads or not. I personally believe that there shouldn’t be other “Assaulter Type” specialists in the squad, seeing as it would once again just create a hopelessly overpowered squad.
But I still believe their should still be an engineer at the minimum, alongside an AT soldier and radio controller. Maybe a sniper can be included too, as there are some select-fire sniper rifles in the tech tree. But any of the other specialists - probably not.
- No specialists (please don’t - we need engineers)
- Engineers, AT, Sniper and Radio Operator ONLY
- All specialists

Finally, Nerf or No Nerf?
- Nerf alongside Autoriflemen introduction
- Nerf WITHOUT Autoriflemen introduction
- No Nerf WITHOUT Autoriflemen introduction (why would you?)
- No Nerf WITH Autoriflemen introduction
- Other (explain)
I just want to thank those of you who took the time to read through my suggestion, to consider it, and to also vote or explain what you think would work better.
