The original design and core of this game was each campaign having unique squads based on the regiments, divisions, etc that served in that battle, all with their unique division symbols
However this game is entering a new phase/era and now all these individuals squads seem redundant. I’m sure all of us were inundated when the new update hit and we had a whole mess of squads all over the place
With the new matchmaking system, it’s possible to customize one squad’s appearance for all different (previous) campaigns/ battles. You can literally make the Tunisian German DAK squad into Normandy or Volkssturm, and you can make the Berlin Volkssturm Rifle squad into DAK. Then what’s the point of any of these squads. Plus I kind of cringe when say the matchmaker sends me to whatever campaign and the division symbol completely stands out, like having a DAK in Stalingrad
All of these squads are just a holdover of the older system, and frankly they just congest everything. Even then on top of weapons and vehicles, these squads have their own BRs. I think that just further complicates everything. What if I give a high BR squad lower BR weapons, which one takes precedent in the matchmaker. So then what I have a high BR Volkssturm squad with low BR weapons in Stalingrad!? Nothing makes sense. I ultimately think this is for the best
I suggest that we remove all these copious squads and instead all factions get 1 squad of each class, so German Riflemen, Assaulter, AT, Flamethtower. We can still customize multiple loadouts and presets. Britain and Italy may not be independent factions, yet, but they would also receive the same treatment. That way we don’t have to have any faction missing anything. So America, Britain, Soviets, Germany, Italy, and Japan would get 1 squad of each class. None of these regular squads would have any BR, only their weapons and vehicles are the deciding factor
Yes we will have to say goodbye to their nice symbols and each squad would have a generic symbol for their class. Perhaps maybe uniform symbols could be added as cosmetics
Obviously this isn’t including Premium and Event squads because they are their weapon/vehicle
