Berlin is completely unplayable as the soviets at the moment, as 90% of the Axis team is maxed players and you’re stuck with a bunch of new players and bots with the occasional high level. Normandy has by far the most balanced player base.
You know playing as the soviets is unplayable when matchmaking takes not even a second to load you into a match, and most of the time the match has already started and there’s already people on the enemy team with 10+ kills.
One thing that could be added is the option to not join already started battles (like what War thunder has)
Berlin has this trend where its either Soviet team is full of noobs or the match is extremely sweaty. Its just there are some German players in Berlin desert when they found out that they are fighting a competent Soviet team much like Tunisia Allies do.
I don’t even know if late joins happen too often on populated or not so populated factions.
I normally don’t bother on weeknights as my job is stressful and Enlisted doesn’t go well after work. Due to the event and my desire to grind new levels, I gave it a shot.
I spawned into a game where we were attackers.
My first squad spawned in 2:35 after the match started.
No points capped (or close) and the team had 806 tickets.
My initial reaction was to bail but I did my best (which is unspectacular on a weekday) We ended up capping 3 points and I thought my contribution was meaningful but I got crap XP (we lost) and lost a rank point. The only way to get a battle hero joining so late is to fixate on yourself rather than the team. I surely could have had melee master or some nonsense but actually tried to help the team.
Again, I don’t logically care about rank but it simply pisses me off to lose a point when I’ve helped my team and not been given the same opportunity as others to earn the award.
So.
It was frustrating. I exited the game. Will not play again until at least the weekend.
I don’t get why people think it’s fun to steamroll low levels/bots with high level stuff, for me it gets boring real fast. I have been sticking to Normandy because the teams are more consistently balanced than the other campaigns at the moment.
I really hope the merge fixes this, as much as I like playing Normandy, I would also like to play the other campaigns without terrible balance issues.
Some campaigns it is easier to grind for silver orders, which are then used in other campaigns
OR
The players enjoy the campaign, and have maxed out their arsenal. However, until the merge comes in, they have absolutely no control over what the other players are bringing to the fight.
As soon as a campaign becomes unbalanced, I don’t play it. Steamrolling or getting steamrolled every game gets old quite fast.
I’d rather earn silver orders while I’m grinding a campaign then to grind all orders in a different campaign that I’m already maxed out in.
I could get playing a campaign where the enemy is bots/new players if you were just messing around. I remember using engineers in Berlin to get on the top of high buildings that you aren’t supposed to be on which is a lot easier to do when you don’t have tryhardy players on the other team.
It’s not just the US server it’s the problem across all servers. Those matches are so damn boring and yet game gives me Berlin/Tunisia missions constantly.
Personally, when I got started in Berlin, it was extremely rough, we were getting steamrolled every game, and I couldn’t get enough silver orders to make a reasonable difference to my arsenal. So I went back to Tunisia with my buddies (they were trying to level up that campaign, I already had it maxed), and got a bunch of silver orders.
Went back to Berlin, upgraded my squads, had a lot less trouble after that.
After spending days trying to play allied Berlin I’ve just given up. Almost every match was at least 2:1 human players favoring axis; and the players on the axis side are overwhelmingly high level veteran players that push relentlessly with meta squads and weapons, against mostly bot and low level allied teams.
If they could at least enforce an equal number of human players per match, it would make the game almost playable.
That’s pathetic that people just leave as soon as real players are on the enemy team, I’ve gotten half the enemy team to quit by running around like a maniac in a M8 Scott in Normandy.
