The special event isn’t always clear… I just kill with a rifle? Does that mean bolt action only? Only in Berlin campaign? I’ve killed a bunch today with semi-auto (garand and Gewher in Normady). Haven’t seen anything “special” for rewards…
Both Garand and Gewehr are semi-automatic rifles, not bolt action rifles.
The task clearly specifies that you need to use a bolt action rifles: https://i.imgur.com/oLCuSH4.png.
You can do that event task in any campaign and with any faction, it’s not locked to anything.

Question answered so closing thread.
The challenge will always specify the type of weapon or action required. If you are unsure, check the weapon stats of a particular weapon, it will appear near the top of the stat card.
A bolt-action rifle should be described as ‘rifle’ or ‘boltaction rifle’ and a semi-auto rifle will say ‘semi-auto rifle’.
