Im not sure I get the "new replacement squad concept"

Hey all,

Only been playing a couple of weeks, so this could be obvious and I am missing something.

So I am playing Axis on Normandy and have unlocked the new Sniper squad “Sniper II”.

Does this mean it replaces my level 25 “old” sniper squad? Why? I have put time effort and a bit of coin into it because I thought it keeps upgrading, why does IT not evolve into Sniper II with the new rifle?

So if I take the new rifle and put it in my original squad I get the flashing green Info tag to say it can upgrade weapons to the old rifle, and vice versa in the new squad.

So if this is the case, that means I have to regrind the “new” squad just to have a new rifle and the same additional branch additions. Great if the company wants to make money, but doesn’t make sense to me.

So I guess I dont get why my squads I grind get replaced with squads I have to regrind hope this makes some sense.

Cheers
Rogue

It made more sense in the past, but it seems progress went backwards on it.

The advantage of the Sniper II squad should be that it gains slots for other high-level classes like flametroopers and mortars. But it doesn’t.

I think they used to get mortars in the squad but that was removed. Could be wrong.

The concept was always a bit sloppy.

the higher tier squads for me in the future will be eliminated I don’t know how they will be replaced, but currently at least to upgrade a weapon or if the tier 2/3 squad has a nice uniform, I don’t see why I should waste time grinding it

Basically the sniper 2 squad is just a different sniper squad with a different weapon, if you aren’t worried about upgrading that squad you can take the weapon off of him and give it to your normal sniper squad

ahh thanks mate, that makes sense.

Still I think it would just be simpler if the squad evolved into those options rather than deleting the old squad grind and time. Quite attached to these guys now :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep ive tried it and it tells me the old sniper rifle should replace this new one, dont get it.

Is the old one higher starred than the new one?

Actually yes it is starred higher, thanks for clearing that up.

But is it not supposed to be a “better” rifle hence the level grind to it?

well it’s more a sidegrade, like how the allied normandy sten is a side grade to the grease guns, since sniper 3 is where you get the campaigns best sniper rifle

fg42 and fg42 II are excellent weapons and do not require upgrades, unlike the avs36 which without upgrades is even worse than the svt

Actually on this subject.

So I also unlock the machine gunner squad (MG). Previously I unlocked the additional MG branch to attach to the Assaulter squad I have. So I thought I would be clever clods and take the MG dude and put him in my Assaulter squad, except now he cant level past 3 as I havent levelled the MG squad as a whole.

This seems messy to me and the starring for weapons is confusing also.

a bit but yeah you don’t have the upgrade to get him all the way to 5 stars

I believe the other squads have different starter perks and you can now run multiple sniper, assualter or radio squads if you want to at the same time

Also you can build them differently.

Yes good point. Like having a rifleman 1 use two rifles both with grenade launchers (6 rifle grenades then) and rifleman 2 having backpacks or ammo

Yep, also one Rifle squad can have Mg and another SMG.

It would, but I think they found this simpler to implement.

Thing is, I feel its simpler for the squad to have a branch tree, the gamer then builds or customises as they want including weapons and uniform upgrades for example.

The current one is a start but should be able to add weapons or other classes as you go, rather than replace with a new squad back at the stone age, I wont be regrinding what doesn’t make sense.

Hell you could even unlock from a basic infantry squad into elite squads of the period and campaign. You could still level up individual soldiers with the bronze training cards as they get added.

Just some thoughts.

Cheers all for the contributions, I dont feel so awkward lol

Progression hasn’t made a lot of sense, I’m still confused as to why veteran troops and weapon tuning still hasn’t been implemented.
