I like making trenches, making fortifications, using AA guns, sniping once in a while, using a mortar, holding a position, or even playing as a fighter plane with nothing better to do than fly around and wait for an aircraft to spawn so that I may get blown up by its payload when I chase after it.
The above just isn’t feasible with the current game modes and incentives. A lot of the above is something I and many others avoid because you aren’t directly contributing to winning. I know there is the big update coming at some point, which may change this. I also know that any suggestion I make may just be a huge flop of words.
So,
a. Do you wish to have slowed down games where you can enjoy the game and its mechanics?
b. Do you have any ideas how to feasibly do so?
Some ideas I had to lengthen the matches without burdening the develops too much or straining the match maker:
Have a match length set of say 15-30 minutes for one match which goes down or up based on what the attackers or defenders do. Not ticket based which drains or goes up arbitrarily. The ticket system really incentivizes pushing over all other game aspects, especially on those 3 static capture point matches which last 4 minutes or so.
Reward players who stay to match completion, so even those who join late or fill up a losing team are less incentivized to leave.
Possibly reduce winning multiplier? Na, I suspect people who are playing to win are doing so purely to feel good, as shorter matches garner way less points than a more prolonged match. I am of the opinion that we have battle hero awards that allow for a sense of winning no matter what the match conclusion is, but the winning multiplier is like the cherry on top for a long hard fought match.
Same maps, just change objectives in a way to support #1. For example, a large map with two halves, defenders get no point penalty for losing squads, but get no points from pushing into attackers side, they also get points for eliminating attackers. Attackers get points from eliminating defenders and being in the defenders zone, but lose points when they are eliminated, or something along those lines. Grey zones stay in the same location for the match so as to enable teams to push back when one half gets completely overran by the other team, also this would reduces the gripe around grey zone campers. Such an example would also soft nerf CAS as they now don’t have a small circle to mindlessly drop bombs around.

No perks
Ideally this game mode should have predefied superhistorical setup for f2p and ability to customize it if you pay (thats because almost all prems, gold orders aren’t HA (in proportions), so there should be others ways of monetizations)
Main difference is maps not time.
Ww1 trilogy has 30 sec-1 minute waiting time after objectives. And its not a walksim
The idiots who claim hll is a walk is either never played the game at all, never built any op or never played with a team that builds op.
I want a slower pace, but I want a new game mode for that, so that people who like more arcade games can play what we currently have.
And I have some ideas, probably most of them inapplicable lol:
Larger combat zone
Larger capture Point (more like RO2), that way capturing a point will take longer as there would be more people inside, more fights, a bomb or a tank wouldn’t clear the hole point so easy, etc. I could explain it more, but I guess it’s easy to understand, especially if you play RO2
No more spawn points. I know many will disagree, but I prefer to spawn near the edge of the map with a vehicle (that you chose/buy for that squad in the menu, like halftraks, trucks, jeeps, bikes, etc.) and get to the point with that. Defenders would spawn closer to the point, so they can set up some defenses.
this is so true, i am always for slowing this game down, the pace of the game doesn’t suit all of its elements that makes this game beautiful.
While the game is already so immersive it can still get so much better!
you guys need to mention the real way to slow down the pace of the game. Remove ALL movement speed perks and base perks. This alone will slow everything down. I’m not a fan of it because I love 15% sprint speed but this is the way to do it
War thunder is literally a monopoly. Anyone who wants to play vehicle focussed combat has basically zero alternatives. Like, the only game comparable to WT is WoT and that’s even worse.
For FPS games there are about a thousand alternatives out there.
One way that could be tried is giving both sides all the tickets at the start and just limiting match timeout due to lack of capping to 10m.
With defenders having infinite manpower and attackers having very limited ones there is no other viable meta than just running for the cap
The only downside to adding game modes is that it splits the player base, if you have a big enough player base it may work, if you dont there will be a lack of players in some modes, which ends up by the devs abandoning that low population mode, I dont know how could this idea be implemented, I have the same feeling, specially since the paratroopers introduction, the matches just end so fast
