As title says, I could see the potential effects of the merge and BR system in just a few matches of Berlin full of high level players on both sides where its extremely sweaty and too toxic to have fun playing with shitty xp gain like how the hell is this good game design then? Want to get more new players but veterans are suffering at a poorly designed endgame? Okay lets make the veterans drag the new players into suffering too as it may have been worked in War Thunder but its still more like an abusive relationship until one reaches the breaking point and completely quit the game entirely.
If this goes on without addressing core game mechanics and design like the format of the existing modes like Invasion should have more cap points instead of always 5 in a small map with defenders having infinite tickets besides standardizing cap times and ticket bleed like RO2 and RS2, how many players per team in a match, etc then this game would be even more toxic than before might as well be a quasi-Esports title with broken mechanics and questionable balancing decisions along with a chunk of the community favoring meta factions.
Even Berlin last year wasn’t as bad as what we have right now despite the sometimes sweaty matches since there was no pressure for everyone to grind a certain faction like what happened after the merge was first announced with players flocking to Berlin Axis to get their nation’s best equipment before merge.
You may take this as a warning to the future of the game besides we already see stuff like the quality of the playerbase anyway.
Funny how balance problem seem never appearing in ancient times like RO2 or BF42. Now we have HLL balancing Garand vs FG. But Enlisted and WT are unique
Map deisgns and objectives are f… up . Thats the elephant in the room that no one wants to admit.
Some parts of the maps are designed for frontal cqc attacks intentionally. Objective areas are too small. Absurd number of solders accumulate at tiny parts of the maps. Result is pure chaos.
Addition to smg spam, rocket spam, heavy tank spam , arty spam etc…
Take tenaru river first point for example. %90 of matches are decided within 5 minutes. Attacker either breakes the first point or stucks at the beach.
Berlin maps are the prime example of this .
Unpopular opinion: my favourite maps are stalingard. In every map and every objective you have multiple routes to attack or defend and playable areas are huge.
Exactly. Limitations and some mapdesign and task changes could give new birth to mid and low tier but…at least i hope we won’t meet FG and Fedorov, hsing mosin/svt/mp40
I’m well aware that most ppl will play the arcade mode.
But imo realistic mode will also be popular. And it will increase the game’s target audience = more potential players.
The merge won’t magically fix all of our problems, but it will still greatly improve the quality of life of new players.
It wasn’t healthy that you could farm newbies in Panzer II and Pz III B in T-34 or wipe a squad full bolt actions with M2 Carbine and this is only the tip of the icebergxthe list is very long.
They can just combine arcade and realistic mechanics to satisfy most of both casual and hardcore communities since these CrEaTivErS have enough understanding of their own freakin project and not make us do their job like with testing obviously idiotic changes (tank sliding) or making mapdesign at least A BIT playable. Im freakin tired with all this
Honestly newbies and dumms will be still able to buy progress. Main objective of merge is to separate guns with totally different DPS and accuracy+also divide tanks to give people ±equal opportunities in gaining frags. Basically devs just didn’t manage to balance most guns except bolts
