Ideas for how customisation could work?

Heya, just wanted to see how other Enlisted players think uniforms could be handled and how soldier customisation could be handled, I ain’t good with words or describing things, but for instance, I always thought it could be handled with 3 main categories, and then sub categories inside of them, for instance if using the U.S for example:

headgear: Options for headgear, be it an M1 Helmet, or jeep cap sort of deal, depending on the headgear could open sub options, for example, using the M1 helmet could add options for camouflage nets, camo nets with scrimmage in it, divisional insignia, etc.

Torso: Pick between things like the M1941 or 1943 field jackets, or an enlisted mans shirt, then from there sub options for divisional patch, rank patches, a few slots for various types of gear such as type of webbing such as Garand or pistol belts, different pouches for pistol belts such as Thompson or rigger, B.A.R belts, suspenders, canteens, E-Tools. Backpacks, gp bags.

Legs: Choosing pants and boots.

All whilst respecting the selected unit, as to avoid infantry wearing airborne jackets and vice versa, I know it’s unlikely to happen this way, but just spit balling ideas and wanted to see what ideas other players had for soldier customisation. My apologies if this was a little incoherent, not used to posting on forums.

The game takes itself really seriously when it comes to historical stuff. You might have noticed that every squad has a name, number, insignia and some history about it.
My idea would be to have all kinds of different squads that are similar to the ones we already have and you would buy/unlock whole squad skins instead of single soldier skins. It would’t make sense for everyone in the squad to look different, have different helmets, shirts etc. This could also bring in volunteer forces like french ss squads, Romanian squads, Canadian or Australian squads.
Though I would also like to mildly edit single soldiers as I’d like to have my 5 star stand out (look more experienced) then the others. This would have to be really subtle changes, like cigars, small scars, small insignia, glasses?, beard, torn/dirty cloths.

I mean honestly my biggest hope is just more of equipment wise, it’d be nice to have the appropriate webbing for the weapon or role they’re meant to fill, though if I recall in a dev QA there was a comment about how they’re not going to be too restrictive on a specific look, so, I guess we’ll have to see haha.

Currently the soldiers generate a new set of clothing when you switch them in from reserve (and press OK). You can repeat this until you get a desired outfit that’s still fitting for the squad as they’re designed now (or the soldier finally decides to wear a helmet (if the squad in question can wear helmets), which might make them survive an SMG shot to the head).

Each squad has a set of gear that randomizes when you add a soldier. I’ve been putting soldiers in and out trying to get the look for each that I want. I agree with your basic premise. I would love to, for each soldier, be able to pick Headgear, then gear, than jacket/shirt, then pants, then boots. Just cycle through until each until you get what you want.

But in the interim… I would totally take a randomizer button just so I don’t have to hit so many damn buttons putting troops in and out.

Please guys, The uniforms are one of the coolest things about this game and being able to customize it within existing parameters would be really nice.

Yeah. So I don’t see why we don’t get a simpler system. One of my squad took about a 100 switches to get what I wanted. Which is annoying. Please ignore what this says about me.

The more free stuff the better. … But I do have money I am willing to part with.
