I don’t see the point in the research system; it deprives the player from playing his favorite campaigns. For example, my favorite campaigns were Berlin & Normandy, now I might spawn there and mostly spawn in Tunisia or Japan if I played with the allies… I love the game, but I really hate the new system.

After four years of never playing a single custom match, I switched to playing mostly custom matches now because I can choose my map, choose my game mode. The system the way it is 90% of the time put me in games I never wanted enjoyed, as I either hated the map, or hated the game mode.

Do you play with mostly bots in custom, or with real players?
I’ve recently started playing customs to get BP tasks done because i have a life outside the game, and also don’t want to drag other players down by me focusing on tasks instead of winning the match.

I play almost entirely now with bots. Since I can choose the number of bots in game I can basically make it as hard as I want. I just turned 62, so I am at the point I want to play for my enjoyment, and constantly getting shoved into matches where I either hated the map, the game mode or both took the enjoyment out of the game for me. I’ve been playing video games since the late 1970’s, so I am used to playing against computer bots anyway. 
Honestly, in all my years Enlisted has just about the worse bots I have ever encounerted.
Bots are more predictable which is the drawback, but since I can add as many as I want, I can still control how hard the game is. Of course, your personal squad bots are every bit as terrible as they are in the general match.
I had never tried to even play a custom match till someone was telling me they go to custom matches to obtain all their daily objectives since they can pick maps that make some objectives easier, and they were right. Usually I can obtain all nine daily objectives in three to four games, and usually my bots have me so irritated that is all I can take.

I hear ya, man. I’m only 42, but I don’t have 3-4 hours a day to play THIS game. I rarely have 2 hours in a day to play games, and i also like other games. I’ve let go of the fomo and just play enough to get my elite BP gold return (recently via customs).
I still prefer human matches, the bots are too bad. It’s been enlightening, realizing which enemies in a normal squad game were actually people vs bots. You get a feel for how bots react.
As far as bots being predictable, man, yeah. I played a custom v all bots today on quarry, and I’ve never had so many Mortar and Artillery kills
