I really miss the days when the loader got killed, the radio operator would step up to take his place!

With the version updates, most tanks from BR1 to BR3 have been afflicted by the curse of the Japanese machine gunner meta.

Back when I fought enemies before, even if just the loader was killed, the radio operator would no longer take over his role—and that ruined my odds in head-on tank duels.

Now only a handful of vehicles at BR3 haven’t been nerfed into this state: the Sherman (105mm), the KV-1, and the Panzer IV.

Devs claim they’re going for realism, but only the commander can fire remotely. For the radio operator, this setup is completely useless. Once the gunner is down, who has the patience to man both the main gun and the machine gun at the same time?

Only Japanese tanks even need hull machine gunners.

It’s ironic. A casual suggestion from back in the day has now turned into a curse, completely ruining everyone’s gameplay experience for the sake of trivial balance tweaks.

Now radio operators no longer act like proper AI and engage enemies on their own. When the gunner gets killed mid-fight, you’re stuck in a no-win dilemma: either don’t take commander view and lose situational awareness, or switch to commander view but have no one left to load the cannon.

It’s such a hassle. This update has brought far more trouble than improvement.

I really wish they’d adjust the priority again like it used to be—make the radio operator’s role lower than the loader’s, or let them fire at enemies autonomously on their own.

Restore the crew priority to how it was before—back when the radio operator couldn’t take over the loader’s role.

Allow the radio operator to fire autonomously like AI when no commander is controlling them, or when only a few crew members remain alive — just like the crew on APCs.

I was watching my friend play Sniper Elite and noticed something interesting. In the game, if the protagonist sneaks past a Panzer III or Panzer IV without paying attention to the hull machine gun, that machine gun counts as an enemy observation point, and you’ll get mowed down instantly.

I thought that was really realistic and cool. Our game doesn’t have this kind of logic—like when only the gunner is manning the cannon, the radio operator should have his own awareness and act independently.
